A huge thank you to the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce for the incredible and humbling recognition of our very own Co-Founder & CEO, Fletcher Gill Sr., who was named the 2026 Veteran Advocate of the Year.

This award recognized an individual known for helping Veterans and Veteran’s families, resulting in an extraordinarily positive impact on the Veteran community throughout the Greater Washington region.

We were especially honored to see Luke’s Wings and Fletcher’s advocacy recognized in the Congressional Record by Congressman James R. Walkinshaw — a meaningful reflection of our mission to support wounded, ill, and injured service members, Veterans, and their families during critical moments of recovery.

Mackenzie Yaede proudly accepted the award on Fletcher’s behalf.

The Northern Virginia Chamber’s Distinguished Service Awards celebrates Veterans and those who serve them, bringing together mission-driven leaders from across the region to recognize service, leadership, and lasting impact within the Veteran community.

Congratulations to all of this year’s honorees, and thank you to the Northern Virginia Chamber for continuing to uplift and recognize those dedicated to serving others. 💙

A small monthly gift can have a life-changing impact for a wounded service member in need.

For just $12 a month, you can help bring families together during recovery following Operation Epic Fury.

Consider what one small swap in your daily routine could support:

🔹 Your morning coffee run
🔹 A meal out during the week
🔹 A rideshare trip

That small shift could help fund a flight that reunites a service member with their family when they need it most.

Give $12 a month and support our mission 👉 https://bit.ly/3xEZNYp

The Luke’s Wings team was deeply honored to be invited to the White House by Courtney Stecker — a longtime champion and dedicated supporter of our mission.

During our visit, we had the privilege of meeting incredible individuals who are working tirelessly to support service members, military spouses, and families. It was a powerful reminder that behind every service member is a family making sacrifices alongside them, and that supporting those families is essential to the strength of our military community.

We are encouraged and inspired by the continued commitment to ensuring military families have the resources, support, and care they deserve. Luke’s Wings is grateful to stand alongside those making a difference, and we are excited for all that is ahead. 💙

Luke's Wings was honored to participate in Walter Reed National Military Medical Center’s Caregiver Appreciation Luncheon in celebration of Military Caregiver Day on Wednesday, May 6, held at the USO building on the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center campus.

The Luke’s Wings team joined fellow nonprofit organizations dedicated to supporting our military families and caregivers. We were especially proud to distribute care kits packaged by attendees of Cambridge Investment Research, Inc. Ignite Conference last July.

These kits were given to the caregivers who make countless sacrifices to remain by the side of their wounded, ill, and injured service members through every challenge, milestone, and moment of uncertainty.

Caregivers are often the quiet strength behind recovery — providing comfort, advocacy, and unwavering love while carrying so much themselves. Their resilience and devotion do not go unnoticed.

While National Caregivers Day gives us a special opportunity to recognize their impact, we are grateful for these extraordinary individuals every single day of the year.

Luke’s Wings is deeply honored to support and give back to a community that sacrifices so much in service to others. To every caregiver standing beside a service member during their healing journey: thank you. Your compassion, strength, and selflessness inspire us all. 💙

Today we celebrate Armed Forces Day, a moment to honor all who serve in the United States Armed Forces.

This day recognizes the dedication, discipline, and sacrifice of service members across every branch who commit their lives to protecting our nation. From training at home to missions around the world, their readiness and resilience reflect the very best of military service.

At Luke’s Wings, we are deeply grateful for every individual who serves and for the families who stand behind them through every deployment and transition. Supporting connection and togetherness is at the heart of what we do.

Today, we thank you for your service, your strength, and your commitment to our country.

Luke’s Wings was incredibly honored to join our friends at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund for the 38th Annual Police Week Candlelight Vigil on May 13, on the National Mall.

Each year, the names of officers killed in the line of duty are engraved on the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC, and read aloud during the annual Candlelight Vigil to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

This emotionally powerful evening held special meaning for Luke’s Wings. Last year, through our Fallen Officers Transportation Assistance Program, we flew family members of three fallen officers to attend the funerals of their loved ones. Hearing their names read aloud was a profound reminder of why we do this work — ensuring families can be together during unimaginable loss.

This year, we especially remember:

• Agent Joshua Byrd, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, killed in the line of duty on July 17, 2025.

• Officer David Rose, DeKalb County Police Department (GA), killed in the line of duty on August 8, 2025.

• Sergeant Lee Daniels Sorensen, Tremonton-Garland Police Department (UT), killed in the line of duty on August 17, 2025.

We are humbled to support those who risk their lives every day in service to their communities, and we honor the sacrifice of these officers and the loved ones they left behind. 🕯️💙

Today, we honor and celebrate the life of U.S. Veteran Tony S.

Tony was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and entered hospice care in Spring 2025 and spent his final months surrounded by the love of his family. In partnership with his care team, Luke's Wings had the privilege of reuniting Tony with his children and grandchildren—helping create space for togetherness during an incredibly meaningful time.

After learning of Tony's liver failure diagnosis, Luke's Wings arranged additional travel so his family could return once more to be by his side and share their final goodbyes.

While Tony has since passed, his life, service, and the love he shared with his family remain deeply felt and remembered today and everyday.

We are honored to have supported these reunions and we continue to stand alongside his family as they celebrate his life, his legacy, and the moments they were able to share together.

We extend our heartfelt condolences and gratitude to his family, and we hold them in our thoughts on this day of remembrance.

The effects of Operation Epic Fury are being felt far beyond the battlefield and into hospital rooms, where recovery is just beginning.

For injured service members transported to U.S. military hospitals, healing is not only about medical care. It’s about presence. It’s about the moment they open their eyes and find the people they love right beside them.

That’s where Luke’s Wings steps in. By providing emergency flights for families, we help ensure wounded Heroes don’t have to face recovery alone. But the need is urgent—and growing.

The mission: raise $3M to fund 6,000 flights for wounded service members and their families in the months ahead.

Every gift helps create the moments that matter most—when loved ones arrive at a bedside during the most critical time in recovery. Be part of the impact: https://www.lukeswings.org

Today we recognize Children of Fallen Patriots Day, honoring the children who have lost a parent in service to the United States Armed Forces.

This day is a reminder of the lasting impact of sacrifice and the resilience carried by military children who grow up navigating loss while honoring the legacy of their parents. Their strength, courage, and perseverance deserve our deepest respect and continued support.

At Luke’s Wings, we are proud to support military families by helping keep them connected during times of separation, remembrance, and healing.

Today, we honor their loved ones and the futures they continue to build.
