This week we are shouting out our phenomenal Jumoke committee! This weekend the Washington DC Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. hosted Jumoke 2026, A Passport to the Diaspora. These mothers brought an exceptional diasporic display to the District of Columbia for each our children. Their tireless efforts continue to elevate the experiences and exposure of each of our Jacks and Jills.

🩷💙 Jumoke (pronunciation: Joo-mo-keh) is a female Yoruba name (Nigeria) meaning “everyone loves the child” or “one who is loved by all” or “Beloved and cherished by all” derived from jumo (love) and oke (child/uplift). It is often a shortened form of names like Olajumoke (“wealth is loved by all”) or Adejumoke, reflecting deep affection and communal nurturing. This represents a blessing for the child to be cherished by the community.
Many thanks to the planning committee for such a wonderful event.
