While most of us are trying to stay indoors and stay cool with AC, the Community Navigator team is doing everything they can to help our neighbors in Ward 1 stay cool, stay fed, and stay safe. Did you know that on average, our team has successfully gotten one neighbor experiencing homelessness into permanent housing EACH MONTH? Due to the complicated and fractured system of support for those experiencing homeless here in DC, Community Navigators are often times the only people supporting a client from the first contact on the street, to helping them get furniture and groceries weeks after they move in. From meal distributions in 97* heat, handing out masks in unsafe air conditions, and being the first to make contact with those in need in our public spaces, Community Navigators are truly a unique and powerful program here in Ward 1.
