President of the U.S. Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers & Associations, Permanent Representative of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers & Associations (WFUCA) to the United Nations (UNDPI & ECOSOC) and Executive Director of UNESCO Center for Peace.
Mr. Djoken is a Global advocate for Social Justice, Civil, & Human Rights with extensive Public Speaking experience at domestic and international settings. At Harvard University, University of Tsukuba, Tsukuba, Japan, Renmin University in Beijing, China, and University of Sorbone, Paris, France just to mention a few.
Currently a Visiting Professor at the University of Tsukuba and Jilin HuaQiao University of Foreign Languages, Changchun, China.
Between 2004 and 2016, As Mr. Djoken served as the President of the Frederick County NAACP (National Association of the Advancement of Coloured People) during which he worked to restore the tarnished image of the Frederick County Branch as noted in a Washington Post article titled “African Civil Rights Activist Strives to Repair NAACP”. As a direct result, he was elected Vice President of the Maryland State NAACP. On Aug 28, 2007, he was awarded the Citigroup Community Partner Award in Maryland, USA, for his commitment to improving the quality of life of the underserved, and for promoting diversity in the community. In July 2014, he was awarded the, ‘Nikola Tesla Global Forum White Dove Award.’ by Dr. Matica Srpska, the President of Dragan Stanić, at a ceremony at the oldest Scientific Institution in Serbia, which Tesla also had connections with, the renowned Serbian-American engineer and inventor Nikola Tesla. According to the director of Tesla Global Forum, Mr. Aleksandar Protic, Djoken was, among other things, a great advocate of Tesla’s life and work; adding that the recipients are deserving for worldwide recognition. He also acknowledged the previous year’s recipient, Robert Klark as a great scientist and Nobel Prize winner.
As Chairman of the U.S. Working Group for UNESCO Clubs, Centers & Associations, Mr. Djoken successfully led the return of the U.S. UNESCO Clubs movement to the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers & Associations (WFUCA) (August 2011 during the organization’s 8th World Congress and 30th Anniversary in Hanoi, Vietnam). In December 2012, he also oversaw the U.S. Admission to the European and North American Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers. & Associations during the organization’s annual meeting in Bucharest, Romania.
His global reach includes keynote address to the opening session of the Global Negotiation Program at the University of Tsukuba, Japan and the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the creation of the Europe Union (Maastricht Treaty), Susa, Italy-May 2013.
As President of the US Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations, he successfully hosted the 34th Annual World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Associations Executive Board Meeting and International Conference at the United Nations in New York (March 7-12 2014). This event hosted over 250 delegates from around the world.
Over the last 15 years, Mr. Djoken worked with stakeholders locally, regionally and across the globe to create a number original programs aimed at “planting the seeds of peace in the minds of young men and young women” to help raise a new generation of peacemakers that strive to make the culture of peace a commodity of everyday life through Education, Science, Culture, and Communication.
