While all of the focus is on the Ridglan beagles and the use of dogs in animal testing, let's not forget about the tens of thousands of primates that also endure these horrors. Thank you Amy for this letter and all the work you do with Primates Incorporated.

Dear Editor: Thank you to the team effort to help the beagles get adopted from Ridglan Farms.

Apparently the $2500 payout this guy received for a wolf allegedly killing his hunting hounds wasn't enough. Unfortunately, the charges are only ordinance citations so at best this guy will only be subjected to fines. It's long past time that attacks on our wildlife be treated as little more than a parking citation.

A Lake Tomahawk man is facing 10 charges after Wisconsin DNR investigators say he placed poisoned beaver carcasses on state forest land in Oneida County.

UW-Madison was home to Harry Harlow and his "pit of despair" where baby monkeys were subjected to what amounted to psychological torture. Should be be surprised that they also killed beagles sourced from Ridglan under the guise of "research?"

MADISON, Wis. -- The UW School of Veterinary Medicine on Friday explained its use of dogs from Ridglan Farms in a 2023 study.

Today, we brought another 68 precious beings from Ridglan Farms to Dane County Humane Society. For each of these dogs a new life begins today. Some are scared. Some are shy. Some are the most cuddly being imaginable. Some upon touching grass for the first time in their lives had the most adorable cases of the zoomies ever seen.

We are beyond grateful to our teammates from Dane County Humane Society, Beagle Freedom Project, Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project, and the Wisconsin Federated Humane Societies. We are also grateful for the incredible network of shelters and rescues in Wisconsin and surrounding states that are giving these beagles a chance at that new life.

For every new beginning there has to be an ending, and we are working to make the end of animal testing a reality. You can help by contacting your senators and representative in Congress and asking them to support the FDA Modernization Act 3.0.

More information about the FDA Modernization Act in the comments.

Don't look now but, this is Olive. Three weeks ago she was surrounded by nothing but metal. Today this 13 week old sweetheart is surrounded by love and an adorable obsession with carrying sticks on walks. Today, our team will be going to Ridglan to bring out 68 more dogs just like Olive and giving them a chance at a new life. More photos and stories to follow through the day.

Next Thursday we will be working with Beagle Freedom Project, Dane County Humane Society, Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project, Inc, and the Wisconsin Federated Humane Societies to pick up the 68 beagles allocated to us. Once again the remaining dogs are not forgotten and we will continue to work toward their release through negotiations.

A major milestone in the effort to wind down animal testing!

This week, another 135 beagles will leave Ridglan Farms, the Wisconsin facility that bred dogs for laboratory research and testing. More than 1,500 dogs have already been transferred through a partnership led by the Center for a Humane Economy and rescue organizations.

As these dogs begin their journey to foster homes and families, lawmakers are advancing legislation to end taxpayer-funded dog testing and expand the use of modern alternatives.

The rescue of the Ridglan beagles is helping drive a broader transformation in science and public policy.

Thursday our team will be returning to Ridglan to bring out 68 dogs that we will transport to Dane County Humane Society. Following the removal of the first 1500 dogs last month we said that negotiations would continue and following the removal of 135 this week they will continue still.

Mark Pocan has been a voice for animals since he served in the Wisconsin legislature. Thank you for taking on this issue, Congressman.

Just got off a productive call with the USDA where I learned Ridglan Farms has been told to surrender their federal breeding license by July 1 or the USDA would take official action.

They also gave us an official answer on how many dogs are left at Ridglan: 650. Even though Ridglan is losing their state (and potentially federal) licenses, it doesn't stop the on-site research they're conducting. I'll continue to work with the USDA and NIH to shut down the entire facility and find homes for the 650 remaining dogs!
