Language is access. Access is power.

No one should be shut out of being heard, informed, or included because of the language they speak.

Translators and interpreters make that possible every day: they help our communities understand their rights, make informed decisions, and have a voice in the places that shape their lives.

And they look like us. 44% of interpreters and translators in the U.S. are Hispanic.

As former Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona said: being bilingual and bicultural is not a barrier, it’s a superpower.

To every translator and interpreter building bridges in our communities: we see you. Gracias.

Every dollar makes a choice.

When we spend at a Latino-owned business, that dollar doesn’t disappear. It becomes a paycheck for our neighbor, then rent, groceries and transportation for a family, and then it’s spent here again.

One dollar. Five stops. And again.

$5.1 trillion. That’s the U.S. Latino economy in 2026. If it were its own country, it would be the 4th largest economy in the world.

We are not invisible. We are the engine.
📈 $3.2T in consumer spending, 14.6% of all U.S. consumption
📈 Latino spending grew 6.5% a year from 2019 to 2024, vs. 2.4% for non-Latinos
📈 Latinos drove about two-thirds of U.S. labor force growth from 2003 to 2024

And it’s not just California and Texas. Latinos accounted for 94.4% of Connecticut’s economic growth and more than half of it in California, Illinois, Louisiana, and Kansas.

So why is investment in our community still falling behind? Economic power demands recognition. Recognition demands investment.

Long before this continent was mapped and divided, Indigenous peoples were already here, and they still are.

Today we honor the Indigenous peoples of the Americas. For so many of us, this is not someone else’s history. It lives in our abuela’s recipes, in the words we grew up hearing, in the faces of our families. Native American, Maya, Aztec, Nahua, Quechua, Mixtec, Zapotec, Taíno, and so many more. Their strength is part of who we are.

But honoring is not enough. Indigenous communities are still fighting for their land, their water, and the right to be heard in their own languages: in courtrooms, hospitals, and immigration offices. They have kept their cultures alive through centuries of being told to disappear. The least we can do is make sure they are never invisible again.

We see you. We stand with you. And we will keep demanding that power answer to you too.

What if Latinas didn’t show up tomorrow?

Classrooms, hospitals, fields, hotels and homes across this country run on our work. Yet for every dollar paid to a white, non-Hispanic man, a Latina working full-time is paid 53 cents.

53 cents. That is what Latinas are paid, on average, for every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men. Over a career, that adds up to more than $1 million. Now the programs that opened doors for women at work, from mentorship to paid leave, are being cut. Equal pay is not a favor. It is what our work is worth.
