Management Skills for Wildlife Conservation - MSWC

Wildlife conservancies face a particularly challenging diversity of management problems; to name a few: anti-poaching efforts, environmental protection, nurturing good relations with local communities, tourism, government relations, personnel management, fundraising and revenue enhancement.

There is an increasing recognition in the conservancy world of the need for a more entrepreneurship mindset and better business skills.

There is strong demand on then part of conservancies for management training of leaders, managers and staff but access to relevant and affordable management education is extremely limited.

Vision

That in coming years and decades management skills in wildlife conservancies will have been improved, through formal training and other programs, as a cost-effective way to achieve better outcomes, to reduce poaching, to save wild animals

Mission

· to facilitate the development of improved communications between wildlife conservancies and the providers of management education on the issues facing the conservancies and their training needs;

· to encourage the development of management training programs focused on the particular needs of wildlife conservancies;

· to assist in the assessment of the effectiveness of such programs;

· to support the dissemination of findings as to what works and what does not;

· and to encourage funders to consider support for upfront investment in creating management training courses and scholarships for conservancy personnel.

MSWC was founded by Guy Pfeffermann and builds on his experience of more than 15 years with the Global Business School Network (GBSN).
