Many of you have seen Bjorn thriving in his temp foster the last few weeks 🥹 Unfortunately, they can’t keep Bjorn any longer. We’ve been working so hard to find another foster - including speaking with fosters in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and a dog sitter host in Delaware.

Every “no” has been for different but personal reasons to the foster or a concern on distance.

Unfortunately, Bjorn still needs a new foster starting today or tomorrow and all of our options have run dry.

While we know many of our followers can’t help Bjorn, YOUR HELP sharing and commenting has helped us reach all the other states outside the DMV. So we’re back again to ask all of you to share, comment, and tag ANYONE who might be a fit or know someone who’s a fit to foster Bjorn.

Do you know some one in PA, NJ, DE, or Southern VA that might be able to foster? Being in the DMV is not required and we can handle the drive to the new foster!

Stats/Needs:
- Only dog in the home or separated from other animals
- Has lived with kids and loved them!
- Neutered Male, 80ish lbs
- Been described as medium energy and focused instead on mental stimulation through lick mats / brain games. Current foster does walks at quiet times and plays in the backyard but he’s also lived with just a patio as his “backyard”
- Takes a daily medication in peanut butter very well
- Loves humans and cuddling with his people

Don't think we forgot about the cat lovers! Moonie will be just ONE of the adult cats we'll have in attendance Saturday, July 25th where all adult animal fees are waived to just $1!!

Moonie's foster has loved her time with him, but he is ready for his forever home! He prefers to be the only cat in your heart and his favorite toys are sparkly pom-poms. He's learned quite a bit from watching the goalies and no pom-poms get past him during playtime!

Charlie Brown is wondering if you're going to come to our adoption event July 25th where ALL adult dog & cat adoption fees are just $1. He's hoping you'll use the funds for his adoption fee towards some treats? or a new dog bed? or whatever floats your boat as long he gets to hang out with you!

Meet Harley, Charley, and Marley!

After a neighbor found these three outside at just 3 weeks old, their foster took them in and asked us to help vet and adopt them out. How could we say no?!

While we search for forever homes, the Goos Samaritan who took them in and is fostering with us could use some supply help. We’ve made an Amazon wishlist for food and litter - if you’re able to donate we’d be so appreciative! The link is in our bio 🔗

This handsome guy, along with ALL our adult dogs and cats with Laila’s Legacy Animal Rescue , will have their adoption fees bumped to just $1 at our event on July 25th!!!

We have never done something like this before. But it is all thanks to an incredible donor and the amazing team at Material Things putting on an event with multiple vendors including coffee studios, dog collar and necklace businesses, dog groomers, bahn mi, dog trainers and more!

Adoption approval can be obtained before the event OR onsite!

We hope to see you there to help you find your next best friend, waive adoption fees to just $1, and support local small businesses!

And just like that, we busted all our long-timers out of boarding 😭🥹

Rye was the last of our pups waiting patiently in boarding. With her limitations in placement it took some time - and every single one of you sharing - to find her a foster. But she has officially been in a foster for a week and a half and is doing well!

Her foster reports her biggest “challenges” thus far are begging and some counter surfing. Behavior challenges we want to correct but for now, we will happily accept. 🥹

While boarding will remain a resource for us, as it is for many organizations in the DMV, when emergencies arise or temp coverage is struggling to be found. But we’re so incredibly grateful for everyone who helped us get these pups into long-term fosters.

There are *so* many people to thank that we will probably miss some names and mentions but we’d be remiss to not thank the dog walkers - prettyboyaussie , Lara, Andy, Jane, Adrianna, and allllll of the Rye fans that went out to see Rye.

A special thank you to Pet Dominion gave such incredible care to Rye and she became a friend to staff members (how could she not win them over with that smile??).

Thank you to all the accounts that shared her — we quite literally would run out of room if we tagged everyone but we wanted to thank Indigo Dog Club , PG Pet Unity Project , & Takeover account for adoptable pets in the DMV who have shared her since the beginning.

And thank you to everyone who shared outside of social media! Ultimately, Nextdoor was where Rye’s foster found us that was only made possible by each and every person that shared her story!

We missed many of Rye’s fan club in these “thank yous” but this was truly only made possible by all of you! Rye is cheesing at you to say thank you too!

We will of course keep everyone updated as she progresses! Thank you all! 💜

If we do not have a foster by EOD we are faced with the heartbreaking decision to place him in boarding tomorrow, as boarding is closed on Saturday.

Heartbreaking Update - Please help! 🚨

In a completely shocking and heartbreaking turn of events, every Rover sitter we reached out to wasn’t comfortable watching Bjorn. We reached as far north as the Pennsylvania border and 3 hours south into VA. Many said no because they felt that they couldn’t keep away from dogs (& we appreciate the honesty) & others because they didn’t want to administer daily medications.

This has been very surprising and saddening. We are still working every filter on Rover and looking at other sitter options but we’re unsure if a sitter is still feasible.

As a result we are still looking for a foster to take in Bjorn.

If you can’t foster but know a pet sitter that will watch in the home, please let us know. We have fundraised close to $2,000 specifically for a sitter.****

We are heartbroken to think that the only last option is boarding. We have gotten everyone out of boarding and committed to trying everything and will *not* euthanize him only for space or because finding a foster has been hard. But months of asks and every angle isn’t working - our only hope to avoid boarding is a foster or a pet sitter someone knows.

Can anyone in our network foster him? Can you tag someone? Can you ask a friend or family member?

We completely understand having an “only-dog” in the home is tough. But Bjorn deserves a foster.

He is doing well in training, loving his muzzle, goofy & loves to play or a Kong/brain game. He loves to cuddle; happy just to watch a TV show with you. He can also be left while you’re at work! Bjorn takes daily medications for his anxiety and we’d love a foster that will continue working with his training, but we need a foster to just let him find a soft place to land. ❤️‍🩹

Even if you have dogs, we would rather him be in a safe foster home, separated from other dogs, than bounced around!
