Please read the below, hope it helps. We often get asked this question, and this is the simplest way we can share WHAT VHPA is, what it does.
Happy HINDU HERITAGE MONTH! 🙏
VHPA is a premier organization working to preserve and strengthen the identity, rights, awareness, and understanding of Hindus and Sanatan Dharma. Its work encompasses education, awareness, community, and the preservation of our civilizational identity.
Hindu Women’s Network is one of the initiatives within that larger institution.
We all come from different states, regions, traditions, and cultural backgrounds. We may also have personal affiliations with different philosophies, sampradayas, or schools of thought. That diversity is natural—and it is okay. Following one particular tradition does not make us any less Hindu.
Think of it like a school.
We are all students of the same school. Within that school, there are different grades, sections, houses, and groups. Grade 8 may have Section A and Section B. There may be different houses—green, yellow, blue, or whatever names we give them. They may even compete with one another, and healthy competition can be wonderful.
But when we step outside the school, we don't introduce ourselves only as Section A or House Green.
We say, “I am a student of this school.”
Our section gives us a smaller identity within the school, but the school gives us the larger identity that connects us all.
A section cannot exist in isolation from the school that gives it context and identity. And similarly, our individual traditions, philosophies, and affiliations are beautiful expressions within the much larger civilizational framework of Sanatan Dharma.
We may choose different paths. We may worship differently, interpret things differently, or feel particularly connected to one tradition or another. We don't have to agree on everything.
*But our differences should not make us forget what ultimately connects us.
At the highest level, we are part of the same Sanatan tradition.*
And when our larger identity is challenged or when we need to stand together as a community, it is that shared identity that should bring us together.
Our diversity can be our strength. Our different sections can remain different—*but the school must remain strong*.
Many paths. Many traditions. Many expressions. One larger civilizational identity.
