NFA had a great week at APA’s Annual Convention in Disney! We got to see some faces we hadn’t seen in FOREVER (like… 2 weeks!) and got to connect with new people too! We got up-to-date industry information, saw some great firework shows that were specially designed for the attendees by the Disney pyro crew, and we are all heading home ready to keep moving forward!

We've had another great morning of sessions at APA - hearing from Congressman Eric Burlison & APA Past President Michael Ingram about the bipartisan Fireworks Caucus, which is a collaborative effort between the APA & NFA to continue our advocacy efforts for our industry. We also heard from Casie Daugherty and Becky Weber from Prime Policy Group about the most recent trade updates and the upcoming midterm election.

A MAJOR WIN FOR THE FIREWORKS INDUSTRY!

Today’s announcement regarding the U.S./China tariffs is tremendous news for our industry, and we are especially excited to see FIREWORKS listed as #1 on the White House’s U.S. proposed Import List!

For nearly two years, the National Fireworks Association (NFA) and American Pyrotechnics Association (APA) have worked side by side with a common goal: educating decision-makers about the impact tariffs have on our industry, American businesses, and the celebrations that bring communities together.

Our message has remained clear: protect the fireworks industry and our ability to help America celebrate its historic 250th birthday and traditions for generations to come.

Seeing “Fireworks” at the very top of the official list is especially meaningful and reflects the persistence, teamwork, and countless hours spent making sure our industry’s voice was heard.

A huge thank you to the NFA, APA, our Tariff Teams, and every member who shared their story, made a connection, attended a meeting, or helped carry our message.

This is what can happen when our industry comes together with one voice. We will continue reviewing the details and advocating for the businesses and people who make America’s celebrations possible!

A personal note from Allyson:

After a year of planning and late nights, millions of phone calls, last minute clarification zooms, asking too many times “does that make sense?”, and a few times shouting “I’m literally just a girl!” … NFA 2026 is over. The skids are wrapped, the rental is unpacked, and my blood pressure is back into a normal, unconcerning range. We had a killer team of volunteers this year that showed up ready to hustle, keep me nourished and hydrated, and we had some visits from friends and family to help too!

Hearing everyone say how great of a time they had, how insightful our seminars were, how fun our parties ended up being, and how tasty the food was brought a sense of pride, satisfaction, and gratitude I haven’t felt in years. We take every piece of feedback, and continue to use that as fuel to make everything better.

Thank you to all of my people - my BOD, my family, my friends, the volunteers, everyone who stepped up when there was a fire to put out, everyone who said “what do you need?” when I was on the brink of insanity, everyone who brought me a plate of food and a bottle of water, and everyone who gave me a hug and said “good job”.

Its time to hustle all over again and start prepping for 2027’s convention in NWA.
