Mr. Jimmy "Bones" Davis, 73, of Warrenville, South Carolina, beloved husband of Mrs. Brenda Smith Davis, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, surrounded by his family in the comfort of his own home.
Born in Aiken, South Carolina, to the late Lester Davis, Jr. and Irene Fail Davis, Jimmy grew up to become the kind of man everybody in Warrenville seemed to know and if they didn't know him, they'd heard of him. He spent his career as a truck driver, logging countless miles and, no doubt, countless conversations with folks along the way.
If it had a motor, Jimmy could fix it. Cars, tractors, lawn mowers, it didn't matter. Hand him a wrench and a problem, and he'd have it running again before you knew it. But Jimmy's real gift was for people. Give him a farm auction, his brothers, and his preacher by his side, and you'd find him right in his element, grinning ear to ear as he "wheeled and dealed" his way through the day. He never met a bargain he didn't love or a deal he couldn't talk his way into.
A faithful and active member of Mercy Gate Church in Warrenville, Jimmy's faith was woven into everything he did, how he treated people and how he raised his family.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Darlene Davenport; and two brothers, Lester Davis and Reggie Davis.
He leaves behind a family that adored him: his wife, Brenda Smith Davis; his children, Rebecca Henson and Jenny Hill (Jeff); his brother and sister, Eddie Davis (Kathie) and Jeanette Manor; his step-mother, Faye Davis; his grandchildren, Jamie Davis, J.D. Pierson (Rachel), Travis Henson (Kelli), Austin Hill, and Ashlee Hill (Alyssa); his great-grandchildren, MaKinley, Isaiah, Lennox, James, Adeline, Kaydence, and Kolten; and his great-great-grandchildren, Duane, Beckham, and Ryker.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM at Mercy Gate Church, 3755 Jefferson Davis Highway, Warrenville, SC 29851, followed by a Celebration of Life service in the church sanctuary at 3:00 PM. Pastors Bill Branch and Stephen Phillips will officiate. Interment will follow at Langley Cemetery. Mr. Davis will be in his signature overalls, and the family requests that friends and family please dress casually as well.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are J.D. Pierson, Austin Hill, Travis Henson, Logan Cooper, Daral Lariscey, Jason Jasmine, Kolten Bradley, Joe White, Isaiah Davis, Josh Jasmine, and Kevin Jasmine.
Considering Jimmy's love for his church home, memorials may be made to Mercy Gate Church.
Jimmy will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend with grease on his hands, a deal in the works, and a heart that welcomed everyone he met. He'll be deeply missed, but the stories he left behind will keep him close for a long, long time.
