F. N. Blanchet of Oregon City wrote down.

who were asked by their Chief to go explain what
happened at the Whitman Massacre. These statements
are in their own words and were written down by
Archbishop F. N. Blanchet, Archbishop of Oregon City.

I have worked on deciphering everything as best I could.
It was difficult and very sad to read their words.

These, I found in the Archives at Penrose Library,
Whitman College in Walla Walla. The archivists made
these copies for me. I have had them for probably seven
or eight years. It was a shocking discovery for me.

Monday 11 1/2 A.M. !

Thomahas joined with Tiloukaiht. My heart cries my
brother was guilty, but he is dead. I am innocent. I
know I’m going to die for thing I an not guilty of, but
I forgive them. I love all men now. My hope the heart
tells me is in Christ. My heart shall be with God.
