Together We Foster

Together We Foster Together We Foster provides support to the foster care community of Northeast Arkansas, as well as St. Francis, Lee, Phillips, & Monroe Counties!

We strive to bring awareness to local communities on how they can support families impacted by foster care. Together We Foster provides support and resources to children in foster care and their biological families, foster families, and families with open Protective Service Cases with the Arkansas Department of Human Services We advocate for and bring awareness to the needs of these group so they

are surrounded with support and can successfully fulfill their purpose. We have Resource Centers in Paragould, Jonesboro, Rector, Pocahontas, and Forrest City that house clothing closets, visit centers (with the exception of our Rector Location- it is a closet and freezer location, only), Manna Meal Freezers, and more. We host events throughout the year like our Back to School Supply Event, Natalie Brewer Memorial Graduate Luncheon, and Christmas Parties to help children feel supported throughout their foster care journey. We rely heavily on volunteers and community members to help us meet these needs. To learn how you can help, contact us at [email protected]!

Our director shared this post today and the truth is, these are needs at all of our locations- Paragould, Jonesboro, Pocahontas, and Rector! If you have any summer boy clothes in these sizes looking for a home, we’d love to have them at one of our closets! You can message us for drop-off details!

πŸ‘‹ Hey Friends πŸ‘‹

I was pulling clothes for the sweetest boy this morning, and after getting him fixed up, I realized our boys' section has some gaps in it.

We especially need:
β€’ Pants: sizes 6 & 7
β€’ Shorts: sizes 10/12, 16, 18, and 20

But honestly, we'll gladly take any boys' summer clothes from 4T and up, including men's casual clothing!

If you've got a bag sitting in a closet or garage waiting to be donated, we'd be so thankful if you'd think of our Paragould Together We Foster closet.

🚨 Need in Lawrence County! 🚨

We have a foster family in need of a chest of drawers. We wanted to check with our community before purchasing one to see if anyone has one they would be willing to donate.

If you have one looking for a new home, or if you'd like to contribute toward buying a new one, please send us a message. Thank you for helping us support local foster families! πŸ’›

πŸ’› Volunteer Spotlight: Abby Felkins πŸ’›

We love celebrating the amazing volunteers who make Together We Foster possible and today we’re highlighting Abby Felkins!

Abby has been serving at our Jonesboro location for the past few months, giving a couple of hours each week to sort, organize, and open the foster closet, so families can shop in a space that feels welcoming and cared for. Her time and effort behind the scenes help create a smoother experience for every foster parent who comes through our doors.

Outside of volunteering, Abby is a proud mom to two daughters, Stevie and Scottie. She enjoys gardening and creative projects when life allows a quiet moment.

Abby shares, β€œI volunteer because I believe everyone deserves to feel supported, encouraged, and valued. Knowing I can help make even a small difference in someone’s life is what inspires me to serve.”

We are so thankful for Abby and her heart for families. πŸ’›

And here’s a question for youβ€”if you had a couple of free hours each week, how would you want to give back to your community?

πŸ’› If you’re interested in volunteering with us, we would love to connect with you at Together We Foster.

There is something worth celebrating this June. πŸ’š

Reunification Month reminds us that when children can safely return home, it's a victory for families, for children, and for the many people who have walked alongside them.

At Together We Foster, our Reunification Baskets are one way we celebrate that moment. Packed with family activities, snacks, love, and prayer, each basket is a tangible reminder that their community is rooting for them.

We believe every family who reaches reunification has put in tremendous work, and they deserve to be encouraged as they begin this new chapter.

If you'd like to help us fill a Reunification Basket, let us know! It's a simple but meaningful way to support and celebrate families on their reunification journey. 🧺❀️

🧁 Last night was Cupcakes & Conversations at Something Sweet, and we had a few sweet surprises along the way! 🧁

Kylee with Every Child Arkansas was able to join Kara and Lindsay Roberts for the event. Not only did we get to talk about the process of opening as a foster family with those who stopped by, but we also had two very special deliveries we weren't expecting! πŸ’™

First, a huge thank you to Something Sweet for welcoming us into your space and allowing us to connect with those interested in foster care. 🍰

When we arrived, we were greeted with duffel bags and over 500 pairs of new socks and underwear donated by Women of Faith from Marmaduke Methodist. 🧦✨ Talk about starting the evening on the right foot!

Then, as if that wasn't sweet enough, members of Life Change Community Church stopped by with an incredible $3,000 donation to Together We Foster! πŸŽ‰β€οΈ

We left with full hearts, grateful spirits, and a reminder of how amazing our community truly is.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, donated, supported, and encouraged our mission. We had such an amazing evening! πŸ’™

πŸ“… Come see us next month on July 16 at The American Made Store in Pocahontas for our next informational meeting!

πŸ’™ How Foster Parents Can Help Support Reunification πŸ’™

Foster parents play a vital role in helping children and families succeed. While reunification can be emotional and challenging, there are many practical and meaningful ways foster parents can support children returning home and their families along the way.

πŸ™ Pray for the child, their family, and their success as they work toward reunification.

🀝 Build a relationship with family when possible. Ask about their child's favorite foods, bedtime routines, interests, traditions, and comforts. These conversations can help children feel more secure and can create a foundation for ongoing support after reunification.

πŸ’™ Show respect to parents.

πŸ“Έ Share photos, school updates, artwork, and milestones with parents.

❀️ Help children maintain connections to their family, culture, and traditions.

πŸŽ‰ Celebrate the progress parents are making toward their goals.

πŸ‘‚ Listen to children as they process their feelings and emotions about reunification.

🧳 Help prepare children for the transition home by gathering items they may need, such as bedding, clothing in the next size up, school supplies, hygiene products, and other essentials to help ease the transition.

πŸŽ„ Remember parents during holidays and special occasions. A thoughtful card, a child's handmade craft, or a small gift can be a meaningful reminder that someone is cheering them on.

🌱 Supporting reunification is supporting a child's well-being and helping families heal.

Every act of encouragement, grace, and support can make a lasting difference for a child and their family.

πŸ’™ Will you join us in praying for the foster families in our community? πŸ™

Foster care is a journey filled with both joys and challenges, and our foster families need our prayers. πŸ’• Pray for strength when the days are long, patience during difficult moments, wisdom in making decisions, and love that reflects the heart of Christ.

πŸ—£οΈ Pray that they will be heard as they advocate for the children in their care. Pray that they will be encouraged when they feel weary and reminded that their efforts matter.

🏑 And as we pray for more families to open their homes, let's also pray for those who are already saying "yes" every day to children who need them most.

Thank you for standing with foster families through the power of prayer. ❀️
