🌺 DIFFERENT PATHS. A NEW CHAPTER. THE SAME PURPOSE. 🌺

Project K4 is proud to announce that we are officially moving forward as our own independent 501(c)(3) public charity.

What began and grew with the support of Ka Makani Kaili Koa (KMKK) through fiscal sponsorship has reached an important milestone: Project K4 is now an independent, federally recognized nonprofit organization.

On July 9, 2026, the Internal Revenue Service issued Project K4 its determination recognizing the organization as tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code §501(c)(3) and as a public charity under §509(a)(2). Our exemption is effective May 4, 2025, and contributions to Project K4 are tax-deductible under federal law.

This transition means that K4 no longer requires fiscal sponsorship to carry forward its charitable mission. It gives us the organizational foundation to grow our programs, develop partnerships, pursue grants and charitable contributions in our own name, and continue building opportunities for the communities and young people we serve.

But independence does not mean separation from the relationships that helped us grow.

We extend our deepest mahalo to Ka Makani Kāʻili Koa for providing K4 with a place to develop, experiment, build, and prepare for this moment. Fiscal sponsorship was never simply an administrative arrangement; it was part of our journey.

KMKK and K4 now move forward as two independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, each with its own identity, governance, and mission, while remaining connected through friendship, shared values, collaborative programming, and a commitment to strengthening our communities.

K4 D.R.I.V.E. RC Drift School Product Spotlight 🏁🚗💨

Our D.R.I.V.E. RC Drift School uses RC drift cars as hands-on tools for youth learning in design, racing physics, control, focus, engineering, and creative problem-solving.

This RC drift car helps students practice:

🏎️ Throttle control
🔄 Drift angle and steering correction
🧠 Hand-eye coordination
⚙️ Basic vehicle mechanics
📐 Track design and spatial planning
🤝 Sportsmanship, patience, and teamwork

RC drifting is more than play. It becomes a classroom on wheels where haumāna can explore STEM, gaming culture, motorsports, and Indigenous innovation through K4’s D.R.I.V.E. program.

A Collaborative Initiative of Ka Makani Kaili Koa (Under the Helmet) Project K4 (DRIVE Indigenous Games Design)

Inspired by the traditional Hawaiian game Konane

Beginning May 1, Ka Makani Kaili Koa (KMKK), in partnership with Project K4, will launch a daily series rooted in strategy, culture, and real-life application:

Daily Konane Strategy

Each day, we will share a single move from an asymmetrical Konane board—reflecting conditions that are not always balanced, predictable, or fair.

Because for many in Hawaiʻi today, that is the reality.

We recognize the daily challenges our communities face:

Long hours in traffic
The rising cost of living
Safety concerns in our neighborhoods
