AlohaCare first convened the Community Health Advisory Partnership (CHAP) in 2022, to help spread the word about upcoming changes to the MedQUEST Medicaid renewal process. Since then, CHAP has grown to include support from 4 Medicaid health plans, the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, and the Healthcare Association of Hawaii.
CHAP partner organizations include 6 of Hawaiʻi's largest Community Health Centers and over a dozen community based organizations who serve and represent communities with limited English proficiency and others who might be disproportionately impacted by these changes.
Now a program of the Hawaii Public Health Institute, CHAP's goal is to work together with trusted community leaders to continue to develop a health communication and promotion model that is collaborative, cross-cultural, and sustainable.
