As we close the week, we continue to celebrate an important milestone for the Texas Ranger Association Foundation and Texas Ranger history.

Earlier this week, the historic “One Riot, One Ranger” statue was officially unveiled at Globe Life Field in Arlington, where it now stands as a permanent reminder of the legacy and service of the Texas Rangers.

This effort was led by TRAF Company A Director Russell Molina, whose leadership helped bring this historic installation to life in collaboration with the Texas Rangers Baseball Club and the City of Dallas.

Moments like this remind us that preserving the history of the Texas Rangers is not only about honoring the past, but ensuring future generations understand the service and sacrifice behind the badge.

At the Nasdaq Closing Bell at The Alamo celebrating the launch of Nasdaq Texas, Company A TRAF Director Chad Dresser joined Texas leaders including Governor Greg Abbott and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick.

Chad summed up the moment best:

It is with heavy hearts that we share the following news.
Retired Texas Ranger Phillip Ray “Phil” Ryan, age 80, Company “C” Decatur, passed away this morning. Phil had been facing health challenges for several months, and hospice care was recently brought in to provide comfort and peace. Additional information regarding services will be shared as it becomes available. Please keep the Ryan family in your thoughts and prayers

This case highlights the power of agencies working together to protect victims and deliver justice. Cooperation and shared commitment made the difference.

Former Texas 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrant Jose Miguel Zelaya-Ponce, 22, will spend the next 38 YEARS IN PRISON after being found GUILTY in Harris Co. on enhanced charges of continuous sexual assault of a child.

In July 2024, the Texas Rangers received information from Border Patrol about a possible human smuggling case involving an 11-year-old pregnant female in Sierra Blanca. During the Texas Rangers’ investigation, it was learned that Zelaya-Ponce had impregnated the young female victim. A warrant for Zelaya-Ponce’s arrest was issued out of Harris Co., and he was added to Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List. DPS captured Zelaya-Ponce on Aug. 23, 2024.

We thank Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) and the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification for their dedication and support in bringing justice to this female victim.

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Retired Texas Ranger R. C. "Ron" Stewart, who passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2026. Ron was born on June 12, 1945, in Maricopa County, Arizona.
Following his active duty service in the U.S. Army, he attended the Texas DPS Law Enforcement Academy in 1970. Ron's law enforcement career began as a Texas Highway Patrolman, and he later joined the DPS Narcotics Service, where he worked undercover in the Houston and Austin areas for nearly ten years. In 1980, Ron was promoted to the Texas Ranger Service, where he worked in the Central Texas area, handling various cases, including public integrity cases and special internal cases from the Texas DPS Director's Office. He was later transferred to the Texas "Big Bend" border region, where he worked closely with local and federal agencies until his retirement in 1995. In 1998, Ron became a special deputy with the U.S. Marshal Service, serving as a federal court Security Officer for the Western District of Texas. Ron holds certifications as a federal and state fi****ms instructor.
Please keep his family in your prayers. Ron will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
