Not all life vest protection is equal, and that’s something most people are never told.

As we head into warmer weather, more people are getting on the water thinking they’re fully protected. But wearing a life vest is only part of the story. The type of life vest you choose matters more than you think.

Some are designed for comfort and movement.
Some are designed to keep you alive in an emergency.

Dylan was wearing a life vest. He took precautions. But the one he was wearing was not designed to keep him upright during a medical emergency, and that difference changed everything.

That’s why Dylan’s Law matters.

Dylan’s Law is pushing for clear water safety education so individuals and families understand how to choose the right life vest before they ever get on the water.

Because the right information is not optional, it is life-saving.

Dylan’s Law is not just an idea anymore. It is actively moving through legislation.

After powerful testimony and advocacy, Dylan’s Law has already passed the New Jersey Senate with unanimous support. It is now in the Assembly, moving through the next phase before heading to the Governor’s desk for final approval. 

This is what real change looks like.

Dylan’s Law is designed to ensure that individuals and families are given clear, accessible information about life vest safety before they ever step onto the water. Because not all life vests protect the same way, and that difference is something most people are never told.

This law exists because Dylan did everything he was told to do. He wore a life vest. He took precautions. But the information he needed to truly be protected was never clearly shared.

And that is what is changing now.

Dylan’s Law is about closing that gap.
It is about making life-saving information standard, not optional.
It is about making sure no family is left without the knowledge that could have made a difference.
