Today, we remember September 11, 2001, honoring the lives lost, the courage of those who answered the call, and the countless families and communities forever changed.

As an organization dedicated to preserving the stories of our past, we know how important it is to remember.

We honor. We remember. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

A Little More History Back Where It Belongs

Preservation isn’t always about restoring an entire building. Sometimes, it’s about making sure the people and stories connected to a place aren’t forgotten.

The Virginia City Preservation Alliance recently installed new interpretive signage sharing the story of Griffith & Thompson, adding another layer of history for visitors to discover as they explore Virginia City.

And inside the historic Hangman’s Building, two additional signs honoring the story of pioneer Joseph Griffith were installed last month, including the remarkable original wooden sign bearing the names of men connected to Virginia City’s early history.

Every sign hung, story shared and piece of history preserved helps visitors and future generations better understand the people who shaped this remarkable place.

Next time you’re exploring Virginia City, take a moment to stop, read and look a little closer. There’s a story around nearly every corner.

A little work, a little history, and a whole lot of sweet peas. 🌸

The Virginia City Preservation Alliance crew spent a work day at Robber’s Roost and the Linderman Cabin, giving these special places a little TLC and keeping them looking their best.

And we couldn’t resist stopping to admire Mary’s beautiful sweet peas putting on a show at the Linderman Cabin. Sometimes preservation is in the big projects, and sometimes it’s simply caring for the places we love. ❤️
