Neighbors: My son,Bobby, is collecting leftover Halloween candy for Operation Gratitude. (Sending treats to our troops over seas) Let me know if you have candy that you would like to get rid of and he'll get it from you!
Also, he is collecting used clothing and books for a CHKD donation. If you have things that you don't feel like hauling off, he will grab that from you too!
Thanks!

Good Morning Neighbors! My son, Bobby Jennette, is a member of Lion's Heart which is a non-profit organization that provides community service here in Hampton Roads. Our chapter, Virginia Beach Boys Class of 2021 is reaching out to friends, family, and neighbors to help collect school supplies. If you happen to be at the Dollar Store, Walmart, or any other retail establishment, would you please consider picking up one or any of these items? No2 pencils, black dry erase markers, backpack, gluesticks, plastic folders, pink erasers, loose leaf paper, index cards, or high lighters. Message me or comment below if you are interested in donating, and Bobby will come pick them up! These materials are being donated to needy students via Operation Smile! Thank you so much!

Some idiot dumped about 30 dead spade fish in the woods right at the end of Brant Road. There are about 30 fish sitting there beginning to rot. If you know who did this, call them out. I can't imagine anyone who lives back here would do that. Anybody who is walking there dog, riding their bike, or driving with windows open is going to smell the rotten fish until they are removed. Our family gets to smell it every time we leave the house. I will call the city tomorrow to report it. Oh, how I wish I had a security camera on the front of my house. Imagine the things I would see at odd hours on Marshview Drive....

Hello to all,

I want to let you all know that P&R’s is looking to rebuilt the (2) tennis courts at Salt Marsh Point Park. The courts will be milled and overlaid with new asphalt (red perimeter and green courts surfacing) along with a new black coated chain link fence, new net posts and nets.

At this time we do not have a start/end date. I am hoping to have a more definitive start date shortly. Once I do, P&R will be sending out more information letting the public know of what is to come.

If you have any concerns please feel free to give me a call.

Thank you,

Chris

Salt Marsh Point Civic League meeting minutes
August 21, 2012
7 pm
28 residents attended the meeting. Terry reviewed the details of our previous meeting and we went on to discuss the following :
• Terry has communicated with the owner of the fence on Gannet Run which is in need of repair. She will report further progress.
• Terry had a SMP Civic League sign specifically designed to announce meetings. She placed it in the ground outside of the park prior to the meeting and she asked if everyone could see the sign coming/leaving the neighborhood.
• Terry will confirm the location of future meetings. They will either take place at Seatack Rec center or perhaps Rockafellers.
• Steve (Preserve Drive) offered information on the progress of the Marshview Park. He brought copies of the proposed plan and offered them to anyone who had not yet seen the plans. The first phase is set to start in September or October.
• Ron and Terry addressed membership. Dues are 20.00 per household/annually.
• Ron is the new treasurer and chairman of fundraising. The membership funds will be used to fund neighborhood events as well as projects needing the attention of the Civic League. (Maintenance, etc). Ron designed membership cards that should be filled out by a member of each household and dropped off in a box located at his house on Preserve Drive.
• He will also host a raffle at all meetings and civic events. Anyone attending a meeting or civic function can participate in the raffle, just bring a few dollars.
• Ron reported that the balance of the civic league bank account was $692.00
• Members will receive a SMP newsletter. (The newsletter may end up being delivered electronically if we get everyone joined into a SMP website.
• Steve introduced a website for us to use to stay connected. There are many people who do not use Facebook, and we need a sight that is available to everyone. The link to join is https://saltmarshpoint.nextdoor.com/invite/9af1f3275383178f2ae3.
• We are planning our first social which is scheduled to take place in the park on October 27 at 4 pm. We need a few people to volunteer to organize this function. This will be for all families and children are encouraged to wear costumes. Kristin Trapani volunteered for this and we need a few more volunteers!
• Kristin Trapani introduced herself and mentioned that she is concerned about the amount of trash in our neighborhood. We need to designate an awareness committee for neighborhood beautification.
• Speeding is an issue in SMP. We need to organize a safety committee to address this issue. Ron offered to look into a traffic study. Ideas consist of speed bumps, warning signs, and one-way traffic designation on Preserve and Brant.
• There is a manhole on the corner of Huntsman and Preserve that is a source of concern. It makes a lot of noise when cars drive over it.
• The next meeting is November 3rd at 7 pm. Location TBD.

I wonder why someone vandalized our basketball hoop during the day today? Weird. Kids can play fine without the whole net. If you saw someonee in our driveway today let me know.
