Oh look! Something new snuck onto Main Street. 👀 Vermillion's new public piano is ready for its makeover by Wynie Mae's stylist Erica Niemann. We can't wait to see what she's got in mind!

We’re hoping the community will help bring impromptu music back to Main Street with a few donations. The piano needs some sanding and structural reinforcement, painting, and—importantly—tuning! 🎶 All donations to the VCA will help pay for the supplies and excellent talent this community art project requires. From late-night singalongs to holiday carols, our public piano entertains neighbors, students, and visitors alike. 🌟

October is National Arts & Humanities Month! The Vermillion Human Relations Commission read a proclamation into the city record recognizing the HUGE amount of arts and cultural events Vermillion offers its residents and visitors. It's important to document all the things that make us special! Link to proclamation text below.

Arts and humanities programs give us a reason to explore new places, experience something together, and support local communities along the way. 🚗 Nearly 1 in 3 attendees at nonprofit arts and culture events travel from outside the county to participate. 🙋‍♀️ And among those visitors, 77% say the arts event brought them to the community.

A magazine article about a book about movie theaters! VCA and the Coyote Twin are in the 2026 member edition of Arts Alive for hosting author-photographer Benita VanWinkle. Her book, America’s Hometown Theaters: Please Remain Standing, is on sale at the Twin. We also have select signed prints from the book available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the Coyote Twin directly.

All cinemas are about “more than movies,” especially us little guys. Thanks for the highlight, Arts South Dakota South Dakota Magazine South Dakota Arts Council!

Have you seen Vermillion’s newest public art? There are 3 pieces around town by “mildly notorious” Sioux City artist known as Manhole Michelangelo 👨‍🎨🕳️ His work seeks to beautify the mundane in plain sight.
