COMMUNITY SUPPORT NEEDED — SPOKANE COMPLEX FIRES

A big thank‑you to VFW Post 51 for stepping up and collecting donations for households affected by the Spokane Complex Fires. Veterans Community Response (VCR) spent six hours on site yesterday helping sort through the massive amount of donated clothing.

Now we need the community’s help.

VFW Post 51 has more clothing and supplies than they can store, and they need people to come by and pick up what they need. These donations are available to anyone impacted by the fires.

They are also in need of additional volunteers to help sort and organize the remaining items. Even an hour of your time makes a difference.

Calling All Resource, Health, and Benefits Providers: Help Us Support Veterans and Their Families

CORE’s emergency response team is deploying to Spokane, Washington, where wildfires continue to burn through neighborhoods across the city. In a matter of moments, hundreds of families have lost everything: their homes, businesses, and any sense of what comes next. We’re coordinating with local partners with deep roots in the region to understand what impacted families need most in the coming days.

This fire season has already proven to be among the worst the Pacific Northwest has seen in decades. The hazardous smoke blanketing the region poses serious risks to all community members, especially elderly residents, children, and those with underlying health conditions. CORE’s team is ready to support people in Spokane with the resources they need as this situation continues to develop.

The community response to the Spokane Complex Fires was truly remarkable. Thanks to the partnership and generosity of CORE and Good360, we were able to distribute 180 Carrier air purifiers and 720 bottles of Core Hydration water to households impacted by the fires.

These resources allowed us to support a significant number of community members, including veterans and Gold Star surviving family members. The need was great, and the impact of this donation was felt immediately.

We are grateful for the collaboration that made this possible and for the opportunity to stand with our community during a difficult time.

Old Trails Neighborhood, Heroes and Candle in Woods along with Brighthill Church Volunteers are coming to love on you this Friday starting at 9 AM with breakfast and then running into lunch as well. We will be at Pacific Park, just south of Safeway.

SERVING the community, including first responders, military personnel, neighbors and all affected and serving in fire relief. Let’s gather for a meal.

We will have supplies to help with safety while you sift ashes, along with clothing and goods for you take with you.

Food is FULLY provided by Candle in the Woods, a catering company. This is a beautiful opportunity to come together and rest. May Spokane be your home even in these times.
