WEDNESDAY BRIDGE RUN

It's September, but we are still waiting for those crisp fall days that make running feel electric. Still, a nice evening for a bridge run: dark early enough that you can enjoy the bridge lights and warm enough to hang out after the run.

All paces are welcome and you can run just as far as you like - the full 7 miles across and back, turn at the county line for 3.5, or even add some extra miles.

TUESDAY TRACK AND ICE CREAM

3-Mile Time Trial

Our final track workout is on Tuesday. We end as we began, with a repeat of the 3-mile time trial that started our summer program in May. We are back at Dominican this week, so if you ran that first session, your times will be directly comparable.

Huge thanks to coach Ray Kondracki for again putting together a challenging and varied program for us all. Thanks also to Jamie Kempton for assisting at many of the track workouts and for organizing the hill repeats at Rockland Lake. And a shoutout to the STAC athletes who came out to cheer us on, set the pace, and help record the times. They will be there in force on Tuesday to keep everyone honest.

End of Track Celebration at Louies

This year, we'll be celebrating the end of the track season with ice cream at Louie's, just up the road on Western Highway. Ice cream always hits the spot on a Summer evening, and it makes it easy for the STAC athletes to join us as our guests. It's a way of showing appreciation to them and to Coach Ray. If you would like to contribute and haven't already, you can do so at the Track Website donate link, or just throw a few bucks in the pot on Tuesday.

Drills, instructions and the time trial start promptly at 7:00 PM, so plan to arrive by 6:40 to warm up

Two weeks to the South Nyack 10-Miler!

TWO WEEKS TO GO

It's hard to believe, but the South Nyack 10-Miler is just two weeks away!

If you've run with Rockland Road Runners before, so you know we like to put on a race that combines a great course, a friendly atmosphere and a good post-race party. If you haven't run South Nyack yet, this is a great year to give it a try.

The 10-mile course takes you from South Nyack along the Hudson through Grand View and Piermont, out to the pier and back, with the final mile on the Esposito Trail. It's scenic, challenging and a terrific training run for a fall marathon.

SUNDAY GROUP RUN

We get a bonus Fifth Sunday this month. What better way to spend it than with a Rockland Road Runners Group Run?

We run one or two flat inner loops of the lake (3 or 6 miles). All paces are welcome and you can’t get lost so long as you keep the lake to your right! If this is your first time running with us this year, please register using the button below.

Meet at Parking Lot #6 (that’s just past the toll booth at the northern entrance) for a 7:30 AM start. Look for the Rockland Road Runner group near the new Vassilatos Memorial Bench directly ahead as you enter the lot. Our green pennant should be fluttering in the wind.

SUMMER TRACK TUESDAY IS AT TALLMAN!!!

This week only, Dominican has a conflict with their Athletics schedule, so we are relocating to the cinder track at Tallman State Park. Directions below.

The workout is a classic, 800 m repeats - 6 for the regulars, 8 for the ambitious.

Sunset is at 7:39, and it will be fully dark by 8:07 PM. So make sure you are warmed up and ready to go at 7:00. We'll dispense with the drills and start right on the hour. The Park Police will be anxious to lock the gate, so if you want to do an extended cool down, probably best to drive into Sparkill and resume your run there.

This is the penultimate workout. Next week, we repeat the 3-mile time trial at Dominican, after which we'll decamp to Louie's for ice cream.

GROUP RUN ON SATURDAY

Run to the Max* at our Saturday Group Run this weekend at Rockland Lake. Once a month we switch up our days so people who work Sunday can join us, and this is it - fourth Saturday.

We meet at 7:30 AM, Parking Field #6; look for the Rockland Road Runner group near the new Doug Vassilatos memorial bench and check in with Dan. Parking is free. Feel free to bring a friend - just ask them to register using the link below. We run one or two flat inner loops of the lake (3 or 6 miles).

*Just having fun. Run whatever pace you are comfortable with. All are welcome and you can't get lost. Just keep the lake to your right! 🤔

This run is a great opportunity for people new to the club to meet like-minded runners at the most popular running spot in Rockland. Club regulars are always welcome.

RRR’s South Nyack 10-miler on 13th September

25 DAYS TO GO

The price goes up in the final week, so take the plunge and register now, before you forget! Yes we want you to commit, but it does help us plan. There is also a virtual option that will get you one of those classic race shirts. And a free Kid's Fun Run.

The course is scenic - from South Nyack to Piermont and back. The atmosphere is festive. And this event raises money for local First Responders, Soup Kitchens and the Rockland Road Runners Scholarship fund.

The 10-Miler starts at 8:30 AM on Sunday 13th from Franklin Street Park in South Nyack. Early Packet Pick-up is at Dicks Sporting Goods in Nanuet on Saturday 12th from 12:00 to 3:00 PM.
