The NAACP Vallejo #1081 is grateful to Ed Faso (American Red Cross Emerging Markets Account Manager for Donor Recruitment), Vincent Valenzuela (American Red Cross Northern California Coastal Region Executive Director) the American Red Cross staff, Lakethia Lake-Pascua, and Rhonda Smith for your contributions, commitment and attendance at the Inaugural NAACP Vallejo #1081 Blood Drive.

The Red Cross staff powered up following a couple of delays. Thank you, X-9 Security Mr. Duey, for your entry assistance. The technical challenges took about 20 minutes and that provided time to properly greet our donors, additional time for the donors to sign in and complete the Rapid Pass questionnaire with the amazing American Red Cross team, and of course time for pictures.

We thank each donor (scheduled or walk-in) for their "yes" to making the day a success. We are excited to report 26 of our donors were donating for the first time and plan to continue to donate.

I am deeply honored to receive the Times‑Herald Vallejo Richard Freeman Hometown Hero Award. This recognition means so much because it reflects the heart of Vallejo. Our resilience, our commitment to one another, and our belief that community work is shared work. To everyone who lifts their voice, shows up, volunteers, organizes, advocates, and loves this city: this award belongs to you as much as it does to me. Vallejo is stronger because of the people who refuse to give up on justice, equity, and each other. Thank you to the Times‑Herald for celebrating local leadership. Thank you to Elissa Shanks Stewart and others for the nomination, along with every partner, mentor, and community member who has walked beside me in this journey. I am grateful, humbled, and inspired to continue the work.
