Sometimes, a milestone that seems small to others represents something much bigger. For Arvell, obtaining his Smog Certificate was another step toward independence as he continues working toward stability and building a better future.

After recently graduating from his outpatient program, Arvell reflected on the support that helped him keep moving forward:

“Thank you, Uncuffed Project, for believing in me and helping me obtain my Smog Certificate. This may seem like nothing to most, but Damon kept encouraging me to fight through my addiction with positive words and always showing up for me. Now I'm on track, and I've graduated from my outpatient program. He has housed me, fed me, clothed me, and believed in me when so many wrote me off.”

Arvell's story reminds us that progress is built one step at a time, and having someone believe in you can make a difference. We're proud to celebrate his progress and the milestones still ahead. ❤️

Health doesn't exist separately from housing, food, transportation, behavioral health, family, or community.

For justice-impacted individuals navigating reentry, those needs often intersect.

The Uncuffed Project helps connect eligible individuals to coordinated health and community-based support, including services available through California's evolving Medi-Cal and CalAIM system.

Through care coordination, Enhanced Care Management, Community Supports, housing-related services, and other community connections, our goal is simple:

Returning home is only the beginning.

For many justice-impacted individuals, reentry means navigating housing, health care, employment, education, family responsibilities, benefits, transportation, and other systems: often at the same time.

That's why The Uncuffed Project takes a connected approach to support.

Our programs and services help individuals navigate immediate needs while building toward longer-term stability through reentry support, care coordination, housing-related services, education, workforce development, and community connections.

Because successful reentry isn't built through one service.
It's built through a continuum of support.

Our work is rooted in connection, restoration, and opportunity: helping individuals access the support, resources, and pathways they need to build stability beyond incarceration.
