Hey Urbana community, it’s that time of the year again, to renew your fire dues. You should be getting one of these flyers in the mail this week. You’ll see the billing statement on the front side that has a spot to fill out your info on which property or properties you’re paying for, and on the back side there’s information about our annual membership meeting. This year we are trying something different, we are having our meeting on a Saturday instead of a Monday night. We will be electing 3 new board members this year and we will be having HICKORY PIT BBQ after the meeting. Come join our board and help our local fire department move in a positive direction. So come join us for our meeting and have some BBQ afterwards!

If you live in the Urbana city limits, you are exempt from paying dues, because your dues are taken care of through the City.

Be aware of the severe weather moving in Urbana community.

Severe thunderstorms will develop northwest of the area late this afternoon and move through the area this evening and into the overnight hours. Have a way to receive weather alerts tonight and remain weather aware.

Elevated to significant fire danger is expected today as winds gust in the 25 to 40 mph range and afternoon humidity levels drop into the 25 to 35% range.

Elevated fire danger expected today and Tuesday as gusty southerly winds up to 30 to 40 mph at times combine with a dry air mass. Elevated Fire Danger means that weather and land conditions are favorable for erratic fire spread, if a fire does start.

The Urbana Rural Fire Dept was out on another Natural cover fire. We mutual aided Tunas Volunteer Fire Dept yesterday with this large natural cover fire. There were several other agencies out on this fire, Southwest Camden Fire Protection District, Hickory Community Fire Dept, Prairie Grove Fire Dept and MDC. All units worked hard and together to contain this fire to protect that community. We’re proud to get to serve side by side with these departments.
