A gentle reminder from Social Roots Foundation: 🌱

You do not have to constantly produce, post, share, or show up online to prove that you matter.

Sometimes, life requires you to step back. Sometimes, your capacity is limited, your energy is elsewhere, and contributing to the algorithm is the last thing on your mind. And that is OKAY.

Your absence from the timeline does not mean you are absent from purpose. Your quiet seasons do not diminish your impact. And your inability to constantly produce does not make you any less valuable.

You are a human being, not a content machine. Your worth is not measured by your productivity, visibility, or engagement.

At Social Roots Foundation, we believe in making room for the whole person, including the parts of you that need rest, restoration, and grace. You can be doing meaningful work without documenting it. You can be growing without announcing it. You can simply be without feeling the need to justify it.

Give yourself permission to exist beyond what you can offer the world.

You were valuable before you ever produced anything. You are valuable right now. And you will still be valuable when you need to pause.

🌿 Rooted in faith. Growing through community.

MacKenzie Scott gave $50 million to an organization supporting Native students. Now, nearly all of it is being positioned to keep giving long after the original donation is gone.

The recipient, Native Forward Scholars Fund, announced in August that it will place $40 million of Scott’s unrestricted gift into a permanent endowment. The remaining $10 million will expand scholarships over the next five years, adding roughly $2 million in scholarship funding each year through 2031.

The scale matters.

Native Forward has spent more than five decades helping Native students pursue undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees. Since 1969, the organization says it has supported more than 22,000 scholars representing over 500 Tribes across all 50 states.

Demand is also growing. When Scott’s $50 million gift was announced in September 2025, Native Forward reported that scholarship requests had increased 35 percent that year.

Rather than spending the entire donation immediately, the organization chose to divide it between students who need assistance now and students who have not even been born yet.

The $40 million endowment will remain invested, with its earnings intended to provide an ongoing source of support for future Native scholars. It is a significant shift from depending entirely on annual fundraising and individual donations.

Scott did not dictate that decision. Her $50 million contribution was unrestricted, leaving Native Forward to determine how the money could have the greatest impact.

Ten million dollars will help students through college over the next five years.

Forty million is being set aside so that decades from now, another Native student may still benefit from a gift made in 2025.
