https://www.kpcac.org/index.php/special-events All of services are free of charge to child victims and non-offending caregivers. Services include:

Mental Health Counseling - Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy are evidenced based therapies that are effective in reducing PTSD symptoms commonly experienced by abused children. Forensic Interviews - legally sound, child focused, investigative interviews that are non-leading and appropriate to the child's development. Family Advocacy - our family advocate works with non-offending caregivers to ensure he/she has all the resources they need to be a strong support for the child and the entire family. Forensic Medical Exams - we are very fortunate to be one of Our Kids Medical Center’s satellite clinics. Our Kids is a team of medical specialists who provide FREE medical exams to child sexual abuse victims at Kid’s Place. Community Awareness and Education - Darkness to Light (D2L) "Stewards of Children" curriculum is utilized for community education. D2L is the only evidence based curriculum that targets adults and is effective by increasing protective behaviors that will reduce the risk of victimization of children. Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE’s) training is provided to educators and community members. We partner with local schools to provide curriculum ensuring they meet the Erin’s Law requirements. Finally we offer post-certified child sexual and physical abuse training to our local law enforcement.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Judge Patty McGuire, a champion for children. Her commitment to protecting and advocating for children will never be forgotten. We are grateful for the legacy she leaves behind and the countless lives she touched. Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones during this difficult time.

The Honorable Patricia Sue Bryant McGuire
May 9, 1945 – October 20, 2026

The Honorable Patricia Sue Bryant McGuire, age 81, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, passed away on October 20, 2026, leaving behind a lasting legacy of faith, family, friendship, and distinguished public service.

Born May 9, 1945, in Lawrenceburg, Patty was the daughter of the late Calvin Coolidge Bryant, Sr., and Jewell Marie Butler Bryant. Raised with strong Christian values and deep roots in Lawrence County, she carried those traditions throughout her life.

After graduating from Lawrence County High School, she earned a law degree at UT in 1970 and a degree from MTSU. In 1971, she became the first female attorney to practice law in Lawrence County.

Patty began her career in private practice and in 1974 became the first woman to serve as Lawrence County Attorney, a position she held for 12 years. In 1986, she joined the District Attorney General’s Office for Tennessee’s 22nd Judicial District, serving for 18 years.

In August 2004, Patty fulfilled a lifelong dream when she became the first female General Sessions Judge in Lawrence County. She subsequently won two elections and presided over General Sessions, Probate, and Juvenile Courts. Throughout her career, she was respected for her intelligence, integrity, fairness, and dedication to justice. She also served as President of the Lawrence County Bar Association and held leadership roles within the legal profession.

While Patty’s professional accomplishments were extraordinary, her greatest pride and joy were always her family. She was a devoted mother to her only son, Howard Curtis “Curt” McGuire, Jr., and a loving grandmother to Rob (Haley) and Analise McGuire, whom she affectionately described as “the joy of my life.”

Despite being divorced after 22 years of marriage, Huck McGuire remained her life-long friend and best campaign manager.

Her faith, family values, and belief in honesty, integrity, and service guided her throughout her life. She was the former republican county chair and a member of Pulaski Street Church of Christ. Outside the courtroom, she enjoyed spending her time gardening and politicking.

In a personal reflection on her life, Patty wrote: “I have had a truly blessed and happy life.”

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin Coolidge Bryant, Sr., and Jewell Marie Butler Bryant.

She is survived by her beloved son, Howard Curtis “Curt” McGuire, Jr. and his long time fiancé, Kristine Kenworthy; her cherished grandchildren, Rob (Haley) and Analise McGuire; her brothers, Bill Bryant and Jack Bryant; along with nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.

Those serving as pallbearers are Calvin Bryant (Jonna), Chris Bryant, Tanner Bryant (Gina), Tucker Bryant, and Rob McGuire (Hayley).

Those serving as honorary pallbearers are Huck McGuire, Jack Bryant, and Bill Bryant.

Judge Patricia Sue Bryant McGuire will be remembered not only for the history she made, but for the faith she lived, the family she loved, and the lasting example of strength, integrity, and service she leaves behind.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Friday, October 23, 2026, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Friday, October 23, 2026, with Jacob Evans officiating. Interment will follow at Rochell Cemetery in Westpoint, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Kid's Place Child Advocacy Center. Condolences may be sent by way of our website at www.nealfuneralhome.net.

Joe and Jessica Chapman were recognized as Lawrence County Citizens of the Year at the Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting for the dedication, and love they have poured into Crashin' for Kids Derby.

Although it is well deserved, Joe and Jessica aren't driven by want of recognition, they wanted to make a true difference. They show up and put in the work year after year. Crashin' for Kids brings the community together for a purpose that means more than a single day or a single event. It represents hope and a village willing to rally around children who need a voice.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for choosing to make a difference. The blood, sweat, and tears that go into making the Derby a success do not go unnoticed or unappreciated. You're helping us change lives.

Congratulations to both Joe and Jessica on being named Lawrence County Citizens of the year.

Over the years, we have seen many people rally behind, and truly become champions for children in this community. Susan Franks was one of those beautiful souls. She was never afraid to take a bold stand when it came to protecting those who could not protect themselves. She was a dear friend to so many and will be deeply missed.

Visitation, with a memorial service following, for Susan Franks will be held at Shackleford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro TN on Saturday, October 10th from 11-2.

Susan was definitely a Kid's Place Hero!
