Good news! Adult Beginner Sewing Classes are coming to Needle & Thread Sewing Academy this August!

Whether you've never touched a sewing machine, need a refresher, or just want a creative escape from the everyday hustle, we've got a spot for you.

🌟 No experience required
🌟 Learn at your own pace
🌟 Fun, relaxed environment
🌟 Make projects you'll actually use and enjoy

To get started, we will be offering two class options:

🕘 Tuesday Mornings • 9:00 AM–11:00 AM
🌙 Tuesday Evenings • 7:00 PM–9:00 PM

Classes meet every other week, making it easy to fit sewing into your busy schedule.

Because let's be honest... adulting is hard. Sewing is therapy. 🧵❤️

🧵✨ BIG NEWS FOR CHAOS COUTURE 2026–27! ✨🧵

We've expanded our classes to a 2-hour format (4:00 PM–6:00 PM)!

Before you think that's two hours of sewing—it's not! 😊

The extended class time gives students more opportunities to:
✂️ Sew and create
🍎 Enjoy a snack
🎲 Play and socialize with friends
💡 Explore creativity
💛 Build confidence and community

Students do not have to attend the entire two hours. If your schedule only allows part of the class time, that's perfectly okay! Every student will still receive sewing instruction.

📅 Current Schedule

🧵 Tuesday: Middle & High School
🧵 Wednesday: K–3rd Grade
🧵 Wednesday Homeschool Group: 9:00-11:00
🧵 Thursday: 4th–6th Grade
🧵 Monday Mixed Elementary Class may be added based on interest

Around here, the kids know him as Mr. Owl. 🦉💜

The funny thing is, that's not a new nickname. The younger children have been calling Al "Mr. Owl" since we taught 4-year-old Sunday School nearly 30 years ago.

Some things never change.

Whether he's helping with a sewing project, fixing a machine, untangling thread, or listening to a story, the kids always seem to find their way to Mr. Owl.

Looking at these photos, I am reminded that what we do at Needle & Thread has never been just about sewing. It's about relationships. It's about mentorship. It's about creating a place where children feel seen, encouraged, and loved.

The projects are important, but years from now, I have a feeling these kids won't remember every stitch they sewed.

They will remember Mr. Owl sitting beside them, helping them figure it out.

And that's what makes this place special. 💜🧵

One of the scariest things when working with kids is silence. 😂

At the end of Day 2 of camp, a few campers had already been picked up. The remaining four campers were inside laughing, playing, and making all kinds of noise while Mr. Al and I sat outside by the door.

Then suddenly...

Silence.

After a minute, I looked at Al and said, "It's awfully quiet."

Five minutes later, I couldn't take it anymore and went inside to investigate.

You know what I found?

Four campers sitting around a table playing Hangman.

That's it.

No chaos.
No glitter explosion.
No emergency.

Just four kids who, two days ago, barely knew each other, now happily sitting together playing a game.

Sometimes the best camp moments aren't the projects we make. They're the friendships that quietly happen in between.

✨ This week's sewing adventures have been all over the map! ✨

From a custom Wonder Woman-inspired bridal rehearsal gown to this adorable Minnie-inspired Disneyland outfit for a very lucky little girl! ❤️🐭

I think this one has just the right amount of twirl, Disney magic, and park-day comfort. Complete with matching shorts because every princess needs to be able to ride the rides in style!

Now the only question is... who's more excited for the trip, Mom or the little one? ✨🏰❤️

✨ From Inspiration to Reality ✨

When a bride-to-be brought me a photo of a dress inspired by Wonder Woman 1984, she wasn't looking for an exact replica. She wanted the feeling of the dress—the elegance, the movement, the dramatic sleeves, the wrap silhouette, and of course, the statement slit.

Together, we adapted the design into something uniquely hers: a custom bridal rehearsal gown designed for a real woman, a real event, and a real love story.

There were fittings, adjustments, a few sewing challenges, and plenty of thread involved, but seeing her smile when she put it on made every stitch worth it.

Custom sewing isn't about copying a dress. It's about bringing a vision to life.
