CSBR said goodbye to one of our perma fosters this evening. Chevy recently celebrated his 14th birthday and 6 years as a CSBR dog.
Picked up as a stray in Pueblo Colorado, he was old when he got to us. He was skinny, he was fly bitten (seriously I wasn’t sure his ears were going to make it), and he was grateful.
Chevy was adopted by a family who has been adopting saints from us for decades, and he thrived. He stole bread from the pantry, he adored their cat, he went on summer vacations with them. Then, due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control he had to come back to rescue. Brian and Nicole welcomed him into their home and started looking for a new placement, but after about 6 months it was clear that he was not a solid candidate for adoption, so he stayed. He has helped foster many puppies, and loved to bark on the yard with his sisters Gwen and Ivy. He still stole food and got into trash if you weren’t careful.
We are honored to have been able to make a promise of happy ever after, and humbled to have been able to keep it.
May it never storm where you are, may the steak be plentiful, the beds soft, and the mockingbirds slow big guy. Until we meet again. 🌈🐾🐾🐾
