It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of our longtime members, Sister Ranie Engdahl.
Her obituary is below:
Mrs. Ranie Rosalie (Adducci) Engdahl, age 93, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Born on August 4, 1933, in Welby, Colorado, she lived a remarkable life filled with love, family, and dedication.
Ranie was the daughter of Angelo Adducci and Rose (Mancuso) Adducci. She grew up in a close-knit Italian family that instilled in her a deep appreciation for tradition and togetherness. Ranie attended Assumption High School in Welby, graduating in 1951. Throughout her life, she carried forward the values of her family and community, becoming a beloved figure to all who knew her.
Ranie had a diverse and accomplished career. She worked at WT Grants before joining New York Life as a supervisor in the Service Department, where she dedicated 14 years of service. Later, she ventured into real estate, showcasing her adaptability and determination. Her professional endeavors reflected her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
Outside of work, Ranie embraced life with enthusiasm and grace. She was an avid ballroom dancer who continued to dance three times a week well into her eighties—a testament to her vitality and passion for life. Ranie also spent many years volunteering at the front desk of Lutheran Hospital. She was a deeply charitable and giving person who found joy in helping others and supporting her community.
Ranie was also an active member of several organizations that were dear to her heart, including the Sons of Italy, the Elks Club, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. These affiliations allowed her to connect with others while celebrating her heritage and giving back to her community.
Ranie’s petite stature belied her mighty spirit. Known as the “Italian aunt who always wanted you to eat something,” she had an unparalleled ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved. Her warmth extended not only to her family but also to countless friends who cherished her vibrant personality and generous heart.
Ranie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Engdahl; her parents, Angelo and Rose Adducci; her siblings, Philomena (Phil) Sharner, Anthony (Tony) Adducci, and Joseph (Joe) Adducci; as well as her niece Rita Parsons and nephew Ronald (Ron) Rotello.
She is survived by a large and loving family who will forever treasure their memories of her: stepson Dave Engdahl; stepdaughter Karen Moler; stepson JC Engdahl; nephew Joe Adducci (Connie), along with great-nephew Joseph Adducci, great-nephew Jarod Adducci (Glory) and their children Tate, Janie, Jude, and Van; niece Lisa Adducci (Ron Cotten); nephew TJ Henderson (Teresa Mueller-Henderson); niece Genie Petrocco; great-niece Angela Rotello (Robert Dunlap), along with Sunnie Amaya (Matt) and their daughter Gabriela Amaya; Layne Paintin (Michelle) and their sons Branch Paintin and Cordell Paintin; great-nephew Randy Parsons (Vicky), along with Alexis McPherson (Garrett) and their daughter Ranie McPherson; Randy Parsons Jr. (Marta) and their daughter Madeline Parsons; Vanessa Parsons (Alonzo Wynn) and their daughter Zoey Wynn; as well as numerous extended family members.
Ranie’s legacy is one of love—love for her family, friends, culture, and community. Her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
May Ranie Rosalie Engdahl’s vibrant spirit bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
