Two days ago we helped Carl move into his new place. We have some young men who love to volunteer for us doing all sorts of tasks. It's great to have those young men on board!

Summer is here. Ground Zero has a lot of projects and programs starting up. Unfortunately, our budget is zero. This is where we have to be creative. We were thinking of having a scavenger hunt. If you have time to look for items on our scavenger list I think we might be able to finish up some of these projects.
Projects were working on :

1)Widening the driveway and putting in a parking spots
2) building and leveling Horse and Cow pastures
3) building three flower gardens and bird station on the property
4)planting veterans community garden
5) expand the Goat area
6) fix Peacock enclosure
7)set up woodworking area
8) set up art room
9) running water and electric to the barn
10) expanding food /toiletries/cleaners pantry for our veterans
11) plants for vets program
12) adopt a vet
13)new start program

each project we will be breaking down what is needed to finish this project or Program.
The two things that all these programs need is funding and Volunteers.
At Ground zero Veteran outreach we are a community run program that has helped many many veterans in the last few years.
Thank you for your support

Do you want to adopt a veteran? We have 2 veterans that need some help from the community! Jim is surviving cancer but suffering some complications. He isn't able to do much for himself. He only has the use of one arm, making things we take for granted extremely difficult. He's been shut in and needs help and is lonely! He has plenty of food but has trouble cooking it. Ideally he would welcome a lady who wouldn't mind cooking some food and join him for meals for some company to make the days pass more quickly. The perfect time would be around 3-6 pm. And there is Phil. He is physically limited and would be thankful for a guy to help him out with some household chores that have been put on hold. If you could be a hero for a hero, contact our office at 262-864-2091 Monday, Wednesday, or Friday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Any time you could set aside to help these gentle souls would be greatly appreciated! Please call!

In the wee hours of the morning on thursday, veteran Mel and his wife Toby woke up to what appeared to be an electrical fire in their home. The fire originated in their daughter Jasmine's room. They were able to get out of there unharmed but weren't able to recover their animals. They lost almost everything that they owned. Within 12 hours of discovering the fire and with the help of John Fonk, the park owner, we were able to get them into a new place and furnish them with a lot of what they need to start over. They will still need help with clothing, bedding, kitchen items, towels, and other things to replace what they lost. Please consider donating gift cards to stores or Amazon so they can purchase what they need to rebuild their lives. Donations can be dropped off at the thrift store at 1011 Main Street, Union Grove, or at the GZVO farm at 18700 Spring Street, Union Grove. Our thanks, always, to our wonderful community for always coming through for veterans in need. 🥰
