Get to know Activity Director/Volunteer Coordinator Dana and her dedicated team of volunteers at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove 🌟

Dana has worked for the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) for 20 years and has been at the Union Grove Home since the day Boland Hall opened.

In her role, Dana coordinates more than 80 registered volunteers who serve in a wide variety of roles—from helping with special events and catering meals to playing games, visiting one-on-one with members, coordinating pet therapy visits, assisting in the woodshop, and supporting facility improvement projects. 🤝💙

Dana says she is proud to be part of a professional and volunteer team working to accomplish WDVA’s mission to support veterans and their families. “I take a lot of pride in what we do here at the Union Grove Home and look forward to the continued growth and improvements.”

To anyone interested in volunteering at the Union Grove Home, Dana suggests: “If you are on the fence, come and see us. Spend some time with our members. I guarantee you will enjoy it!”

👏 Please join us in thanking Dana and her team for their dedication to the Union Grove Home’s members—and for supporting the incredible volunteers who make a difference every day!

Every March 29, we honor and recognize the 3 million servicemembers who were deployed and served in the Vietnam War. 🇺🇸 March 29 was chosen to remember the last U.S. combat troops who departed from Vietnam on March 29, 1973. On and around the same day, Hanoi released the last of their acknowledged prisoners of war. The end of the war is recognized to be the Fall of Saigon, which happened April 30, 1975, with civilians and U.S. personnel evacuating. There are more than 58,000 deaths documented and inscribed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. ❤️

To all Vietnam veterans, your service mattered, and it will never be forgotten. We are forever thankful for your courage and the sacrifices you made for our freedom. Today and every day, we honor you.

On March 29th we recognize the men and women who served during the Vietnam War and thank them for their courage, sacrifice, and dedication to our country.

Many Vietnam veterans returned home without the welcome they deserved. Today is a chance to show the appreciation and respect that should have always been there.

Sunday at The Bunker we will have food and cake as a small way to say thank you and bring people together.

If you are a Vietnam veteran, or know someone who is, we would be honored to see you. Stop in, share a story, have a bite to eat, and let us thank you for your service.

Please take a moment to recognize and appreciate our Vietnam veterans. 🇺🇸
