Miftaahul Uloom (The Key to Knowledge) Academy is an AdvancED and CISNA accredited PreK to 12th grade Islamic School in Union City, NJ. The school began as a cooperative home-schooling center at residential building in Guttenberg in 1994 founded by Sr Faatimah Yanes. At the request of the families and with the support of the community, the school moved to the Islamic Educational Center in Union Ci

ty in the year 2001, and became an officially recognized private parochial school serving Pre- K through 9th grade. In 2007, the school moved to a larger three story building at 501 15th Street, Union City. In 2017, Miftaahul Uloom Academy received an accreditation from AdvancED and CISNA. Miftaahul Uloom Academy is committed to ensuring that our students are in a safe and loving environment with frequent, on-site state inspections. We are a lead and copper free school zone.

Huge thanks to our respective judging team led by Dr. Majda Ibrahim “a professor at Al-Manara University and Al-Azhar graduate with an Ijazah in Qira’at and Tajweed” along with Dr. Nadia Ibrahim, Sr. Eman Mostafa, and Sr. Shaimaa Sabry, for their sincere efforts. Our fourth graders continued their journey of learning about the rich cultures of Africa this week by exploring the diverse textiles and weaving patterns found throughout the continent.

Today’s wool workshop was hosted by Ms. Riley from Clover Folk Studio, where students gained insight into different materials and textile weaving techniques from various African traditions. They enjoyed this hands-on learning experience and were excited to welcome Ms. Riley as a guest and show her around our school.

We are so grateful for opportunities that bring culture, creativity, and meaningful learning to life for our students!

Our fourth graders wrapped up their final Mystery Science STEM-inspired lesson on energy and energy transfer this week! Students explored how heat energy powered the invention of steam trains and transformed transportation through innovation. They especially enjoyed the hands-on learning experiences that brought science to life in meaningful and engaging ways.

Our fourth graders had such a beautiful experience today learning the art of pottery! 🏺✨ As part of their Africa continent study, students explored traditional African-inspired clay pottery and loved getting their hands messy while learning about culture, creativity, and history. We’re so proud of their curiosity and enthusiasm!

Teacher Appreciation Week at MUA was filled with so much love and thoughtfulness. From the treats, coffee carts, gifts, decorations, and sweet surprises to every kind gesture, our staff felt truly appreciated every single day.

Thank you to all of our amazing parents, families, PAMUA, and especially our MUA volunteers for going above and beyond to make this week so special and memorable for our teachers and principal.

May Allah reward you all for every effort, big and small. We are endlessly grateful.
