We wanted to thank the Latah County Sheriff’s Department and Officer Paradis for coming out to Troy High School to talk about winter driving. Our students learned about safe driving practices, how to identify and maintain equipment, and some important items to add to your vehicle during those winter driving months.

We wanted to share some of these educational tips with you all as well.

1. Give yourself more time than you usually do to get to where you are going. If it usually takes 20 minutes to get to Moscow under normal driving conditions then give yourself double the amount of time.

2. Be aware of your vehicle’s equipment and your own capabilities as a driver. Is your vehicle front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, four-wheel drive, or all wheel drive? Do you have all season tires or do you need snow tires? What is the ground clearance of your vehicle? If driving a pickup do you need a little extra weight in the back? These are important questions to answer before the first snow of the season.

3. Some useful items to put in your vehicle this winter include a blanket, a shovel, some flares, flashlight, jumpbox or jumper cables, small air compressor, water, and some non-perishable food.

After Officer Paradis’ presentation our students had an opportunity to put together a safe driving kit which included first aid equipment, paracord, cotton balls, gorilla tape, and a lighter.

Congratulations to our soils team for placing first at state! They will move on to compete in Nationals later this year! Great job to Lyla for placing 2nd individualy, Luke for placing 4th, and Brody for placing 8th!!!

We had such an amazing week at the 2026 Latah County Fair! To start off, the elephant ear booth went great, and thank you to all the members who helped us out and worked hard this year to help it be successful once again. Along with that, we had a few livestock showmen represent our chapter at the fair! Congratulations to everyone who showed an animal and put in lots of hard work and dedication. These members include:
