We seem to have many new followers so let us introduce ourselves!

Operation Snip is a very small group of volunteers located in Troy, NY whose mission is to promote Trap/Neuter/Vaccinate/Return of feral cats, and help abandoned friendly cats get off the street by networking with rescue organizations.

We invite Upstate Spay/Neuter mobile clinic in order to help the cats we trap and also to offer affordable spay/neuter options to the community.

We are NOT:

๐Ÿ˜ธVeterinarians!
โœจWe do not operate the mobile clinic and we donโ€™t go anywhere but Troy (the mobile clinic goes many places-check out their website at http://www.upstatespayandneuterservices.com). If your cat is having a medical emergency, Capital Region Emergency Hospital and Upstate Veterinary Specialists are phenomenal resources. We do not pay for advanced treatments and diagnostic for cats, we do not have funding for this.

๐Ÿ˜ธAble to help dogs!
โœจWe LOVE dogs but the mobile clinic does not serve dogs in any location. Animal Protective Foundation, Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, Columbia Greene Humane Society and Saratoga County Animal Shelter can help with dog spay/neuter.

๐Ÿ˜ธ Offering free services!
โœจWe do not have funding to subsidize appointments for everyone in need. We wish we could, but we are just a small group of individuals who often end up using our own funds to help cats already!

๐Ÿ˜ธAccepting owner surrenders!
โœจWe are not a registered rescue under Article 26-C and cannot foster and adopt out cats at this time. Friendly strays and owner surrenders are best served by Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, Animal Protective Foundation, Saratoga County Humane Society, or one of the foster based cat rescues in the area.

We can help you by talking you through T/N/V/R, lending you a humane trap, and facilitating access to the mobile clinic.

Thank you for helping us help cats in the Capital Region!

Good reminder!!

We know how frustrating it can be when you reach out to a TNR organization and find out they're working with a ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ด ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—น๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜. ๐Ÿซค

The reality is that many TNR groups are completely overwhelmed. ๐Ÿฅต The number of cats needing help can far exceed the number of volunteers, traps, appointments, and resources they have available. ๐Ÿ˜•

But while you're waiting, the cats are still reproducing. ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿผ

๐˜๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ฅ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜ธ๐˜ข๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ง๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ ๐˜ข ๐˜ท๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜จ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ป๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ to do everything for you, consider asking whether they can loan you a trap and provide some guidance so you can take on the rest. โœ…

You can schedule the appointment. ๐Ÿซต๐Ÿผ You can trap the cat. You can transport the cat. ๐Ÿซต๐Ÿผ You can provide the appropriate recovery space. And you can return the cat to where you found them.

Sometimes you just need someone to show you how to get started. ๐Ÿซถ Personally, we have had such great success teaching others how to properly TNR!

With the right supplies, a little preparation, and some guidance, anyone can learn to TNR. And, you may be able to help those cats much sooner by becoming part of the solution yourself. โค๏ธ

Lisa is finishing up her ride! Here's what she had to say about her "why":

"As hard as it was to ride 380 miles in 6 days, and as much as I hurt at the end of each day, it's nothing compared to the pain and suffering feral and stray cats endure living and fending for themselves outdoors.
A few days into our ride along the Erie Canal Trail, beside the beauty and history of the canal, we saw foxes, owls, and Blue Herons. But we also saw way too many feral cats and kittens. Even exhausted and hurting, seeing them on our path and in the brush reinforced my purpose: to push forward and raise the funds to help rescue more cats in our area.
We see this firsthand with our dedicated spay/neuter organizations and all the rescues and fosters in their care. Biking is a passion of mine, and I'm thrilled to do this for the cats and kittens who need help so badly."

A compelling reason to continue the ride! ๐Ÿฑ

Lisa is cruising right along for the cats! ๐Ÿฑ
Day 3: Coffee in Lyons, then 30 miles to Weedsport through empty old canal towns. Sad, but full of history.

Day 5: 60 miles from Fayetteville toward Oneida Lake, then along the old Erie Canal path to Utica. Riding through downtown Utica was tough, and she's lucky she wasn't hit! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Day 6: An early start for 65 miles. Lisa stopped at a state historic site just past Herkimer, with an old stone church and a dry canal bed. She says it's very pretty. She finished the day in Amsterdam, NY.

Today she continues her journey from Amsterdam to Albany along the Erie Canal!
