June is Internet Safety Month, and today we are focusing on a growing online threat: Sextortion. It’s a fast-growing online crime, and it relies entirely on three things: fear, panic, and secrecy. Sextortion is a form of online blackmail where the perpetrators trick or coerce victims into sharing explicit photos or videos and then threaten to distribute them unless specific demands are met. These demands could include money (financial sextortion), addition n**e images, or other favors. If this happens to you or someone you know, please reach out for help!

Prioritize connection over perfection. Increased itineraries for summer can increase family stress which can increase less desirable behaviors. Allow for some unstructured downtime in the schedule where the child can lead the activity. This helps emotional safety thrive and increases more desirable behaviors and decreases family stress.

Summer often brings upon increased sensory activities. Increased sensory activities can equal sensory overload for some children. Some helpful tips: be calm to help to reduce and alleviate their distress, create a designated “quiet” space, noise cancelling headphones, favorite snacks and drinks, and favorite calming toys. Catching overload early can alleviate some negative behaviors, which help everyone have fun.
