This is what YOU did! Not me. Not her. Not him. This is what you AND WE did together.
Today SDP sent the call out for just a little more help. Honestly, I was looking at my bank account, at SDPs, and texting Emily to make sure she was still in the “go ahead, Baby” phase and not the “how much does a divorce lawyer charge” mood. I walked into WalMart knowing full well that regardless this need was taken care of. You can call it faith but faith suggests an element of unknown. I knew that financially it was covered.
Before I could put the first round of lunches in the bottom of the buggy, my phone notified me that someone had filled a bag 🙏. I looked at Em and nodded. She grinned. Before I could put the second of the nine days lunches in the buggy, 2 more bags were donated. I didn’t get the 3rd day done before our community had exceeded the ask. So I write you now with tears free flowing, the tears I had to fight back while shopping because— you know— public ugly crying isn’t my jam.
We built and continue to grow SDP on the premise and conviction that community is for us all and is so much better when we all take part. WE are so strong. WE are so capable. WE are so able to rewrite the narrative and to fill this place with love, kindness, compassion, acceptance, and true generosity. The world may very well be in chaos, but WE are more than this world. These kids will never know your name or mine… they’ll never know that SDP collected to fill their bellies and who cares?! Because of YOU they will have a belly full for at least nine days. YOU have always known what matters and I am so darn lucky 🍀 to be a part of your world.
