We at Southeastern Diversity Project seek to bring more compassion, love, and unity into the communities in North Alabama and surrounding areas.

We believe that the more people know about and interact with others, the more they will come together in love. We believe civil rights should be extended to every person, regardless of race, religion, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation. We believe the more people know about others who are “different” from them, the more kindness and compassion they will show. We believe that our differ

ences should not only be accepted or tolerated, but also celebrated. We believe in listening to the experiences of others because everyone should be heard and validated.

Shifting from isolation to acceptance. 🤝

✨As the new school year kicks off, keeping our kids safe and supported takes our whole community. Join us this Thursday, August 20, for our next Open Table event: "From Bullying to Belonging.

Every Open Table operates like a standalone episode focused on community reconciliation. This week, we are incredibly honored to welcome two phenomenal frontline guest speakers:
LaRinda Anderson-Bryant, Founder of G.A.B.B.I. (Girls Against Being Bullied, Inc.)
Elijah Bravo – Local educator at Bob Jones High School, Madison, AL

Together, they will share practical tools and real-world strategies for parents, educators, and students to tackle bullying, navigate cyberbullying, and foster genuine environments of inclusion.

Come for the food, stay for the vital conversation.

Everyone is welcome at the table!

SDP Summer Series: Diving Into Reading

Every great story begins with someone willing to dive in.
Whether you love novels, graphic novels, audiobooks, e-books, or reading on your phone before bed, there's a place for you at Good Company.

This summer we're exploring stories together—different books for different ages, but one shared community.

Choose the reading level that's right for you:

ADULTS will be reading Guncle, a very funny book that deals with real life issues, grief, change, loss, and thriving as a new kind of family. You'll love it.

TEENS AND YOUNG ADULTS will love The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunshine. The title holds a truth about this one... it is truly remarkable. Great for any ages.

Both groups will meet on the 4th Friday of every month for snacks and conversation about the book OR THE BOOK'S THEME for nonreaders. While this is a "book club" it is first and foremost a place to gather for meaningful conversation and just good company!

We do not yet have the ability to offer a group for pre-school and elementary ages, but we will have a suggestion each month for a book or a movie that would encourage conversations about the topic of the month. Our suggestion for this month for the youngest of readers is "Our Guncle" -- this one features some of the same characters as does the book by Steven Rowley which is being read by the Adult group.

This month's theme is CHOSEN FAMILY and if you have made one of your own, or if your family looks a little less like Leave it to Beaver than you thought it would, this month is for you. Come on, dive in with us.
