Southeastern Diversity Project

Southeastern Diversity Project We at Southeastern Diversity Project seek to bring more compassion, love, and unity into the communities in North Alabama and surrounding areas.

We believe that the more people know about and interact with others, the more they will come together in love. We believe civil rights should be extended to every person, regardless of race, religion, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation. We believe the more people know about others who are “different” from them, the more kindness and compassion they will show. We believe that our differ

ences should not only be accepted or tolerated, but also celebrated. We believe in listening to the experiences of others because everyone should be heard and validated.

Mother’s Day looks different for everyone and for some, it may be a difficult day. We see you and are holding space for you today and every day.

This is what YOU did! Not me. Not her. Not him. This is what you AND WE did together.

Today SDP sent the call out for just a little more help. Honestly, I was looking at my bank account, at SDPs, and texting Emily to make sure she was still in the “go ahead, Baby” phase and not the “how much does a divorce lawyer charge” mood. I walked into WalMart knowing full well that regardless this need was taken care of. You can call it faith but faith suggests an element of unknown. I knew that financially it was covered.

Before I could put the first round of lunches in the bottom of the buggy, my phone notified me that someone had filled a bag 🙏. I looked at Em and nodded. She grinned. Before I could put the second of the nine days lunches in the buggy, 2 more bags were donated. I didn’t get the 3rd day done before our community had exceeded the ask. So I write you now with tears free flowing, the tears I had to fight back while shopping because— you know— public ugly crying isn’t my jam.

We built and continue to grow SDP on the premise and conviction that community is for us all and is so much better when we all take part. WE are so strong. WE are so capable. WE are so able to rewrite the narrative and to fill this place with love, kindness, compassion, acceptance, and true generosity. The world may very well be in chaos, but WE are more than this world. These kids will never know your name or mine… they’ll never know that SDP collected to fill their bellies and who cares?! Because of YOU they will have a belly full for at least nine days. YOU have always known what matters and I am so darn lucky 🍀 to be a part of your world.

One of the main reasons for our existence is to help marginalized communities by showing love and compassion for all. Right now, our immigrant neighbors need us to show up for them. We will be joining a planned protest on 1/31/2026. It will be freezing cold, but if you can, please join us at 10am to stand in solidarity with those who need us.

Hello friends...
We need your help scheduling our events in 2026. Why? Because we want to see more of you, more often. AND we want to support you and your interests.
Would you please take just a few minutes to complete this survey? You can click as many (or as few) boxes as you like but be sure to continue to the end and hit submit.
You can add an event that isn't on the list on the last page, as well as letting us know if you are interested in hosting or leading an event.
Lastly... SHARE... share this link with other people whom you think would enjoy being a part of an inclusive community... we're in this together!

Here's the link....

We’re planning gatherings for next year and want your input! This quick survey takes about 1–2 minutes and helps us schedule events you’d actually attend. This is not a commitment — just a way to share your interests.

What a fun night for Southeastern Diversity Project. We really missed some of our core team but we were ecstatic to have our dear friend Dana Barton and her whole crew walking with us. I feel certain than Dan was somewhere smiling and dancing with us 🙏

Merry Christmas 🎄 to you all.
Thank you Young Professionals for Decatur for putting on a great parade and for welcoming us.

Thankful 🙏Also…. Feel angry that we have to worry about this at all.How do you feel?
