This summer, our volunteers discovered structural issues in the old St. Anthony kitchen at the rear of our main museum building. After further investigation, we found that portions of the floor structure had suffered significant deterioration and needed to be addressed.
Work is now underway!
The room has been completely packed up so we could begin opening the floor. We were fortunate to salvage most of the original hardwood maple flooring, which we hope to reinstall once the repairs are done.
Our next step is to move the hardwood flooring out for storage and remove the remaining underlayment and deteriorated joists so the floor structure can be fixed.
Keep an eye on our page in the coming weeks for information about our fundraising campaign to help support this project.
We’ll continue sharing photos and updates as the work progresses!
