Proverbs 16:7 “When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.”

I’ve always found it interesting listening to sermons that reflect often about “your haters” and how to handle or deal with “your haters”. It would lead me down a barrel of thoughts, one being, “if you are doing your thing why are so many people hating on you and want to see you do bad.” Now yes you will have those who envy or are jealous.
However, we find it clear that when your life pleases God even your enemies will be at peace with you. Clarke once said, “God is the guardian and defense of all that fear and love him; and it is truly astonishing to see how wondrously God works in their behalf, raising them up friends, and turning their enemies into friends.” For me this drives a moment of personal reflection to ask the question, “what am I doing? What am I holding on to emotionally and/or mentally that has my life in a place where I still have more enemies than friends.”
Because a lifestyle pleasing to God disarms social hostility. Unfortunately, we have turned having haters into a flex. “You aren’t doing it big until people are hating on you.” That’s not biblical and the real flex is when those who envy you, are jealous of you, flip and have nothing, but positive words to declare about you.
Reflection: Take time to exam you and in prayer ask God, “what about me is still driving someone to be my enemy?” Keeping in mind the change we want to see must first, begin with me.
