We had such a wonderful time with our LifeWise Academy students last Friday! 🙌

Our lesson focused on a powerful and timely word: Contentment.

Contentment isn't about getting everything we want; it’s about finding true peace and gratitude in what we already have. In a world that constantly tells our kids they need the next best toy, gadget, or trend, learning to trust in daily provisions and be satisfied is a beautiful, life-changing skill.

We can easily keep this conversation going and encourage contentment at home by practicing daily gratitude and modeling the behavior!

My name is Elizabeth Bowers. I am a follower of Jesus, a wife, a mother to three awesome kids, a veteran and a business owner. My family and I are members of Northridge Church.

I am a graduate of the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a minor in legal studies.

I love to ride my horse, travel, take pictures, and spend time with my family. I also enjoy thrifting and volunteering to serve the Lord in my church and community.

I believe children are the future, and I'm honored to be part of LifeWise's mission to teach children in our community and spread the gospel and love of Jesus! We truly have an incredible team of teachers and volunteers who pour into these kids every week through God's word, prayer, and fun.

🌟 This week at LifeWise Academy, our character quality was HOPE!🌟
Our students dove into the amazing story of Abraham and Sarah from the Bible. We talked about how God promised to give them a son, even though it seemed impossible because of how old they were! Through their journey, the kids learned that Hope means expecting that God will do what is best in every situation—even when we have to wait.

Want to keep the conversation going at home? Here are a few quick ways to encourage hope outside of the classroom this week:

• ✨ Count the Stars: Just like God told Abraham to look at the stars as a reminder of His big promises, step outside on a clear night with your student! Talk about a big dream or prayer you are trusting God with.

• 📝 The Hope Jar: Grab a mason jar and have your child write down things they are hoping for or trusting God to do by the end of the school year. Look back at it later to see how He answered!

• ❤️ Celebrate Small Wins: Encourage hope by pointing out the good things happening right now. Highlighting small blessings helps kids remember that God is always at work.

🍂 Important Calendar Note: Next week is Fall Break, so there will be no LifeWise classes. We hope you all have a safe, restful, and wonderful break, and we can't wait to see everyone back the week after next!

What an incredible time at the Homecoming Parade! 📣✨ A massive thank you to all the amazing parents, students, and friends who came out to walk with us and show their spirit.

And we have to give a HUGE shoutout to everyone who dedicated their time and hard work to building our float—it looked absolutely amazing! We couldn't have done it without this incredible community. 💙🎉

🎈We had such a fun time celebrating our official ribbon-cutting ceremony for LifeWise Academy last Friday! Even though we're six weeks in, it was wonderful to pause and officially mark this milestone. The ceremony took place during our first group's session, and it seemed fitting to have our students at the center of the celebration, holding the ribbon!

🎈 Walk with LifeWise in the Homecoming Parade! 🎈

We are excited to announce that LifeWise Academy will have a float in the upcoming Upson Lee Homecoming Parade on Thursday, October 8th!

We want to invite all of our wonderful students (ALL 3rd, 4th & 5th graders), their families, and our amazing community supporters to walk alongside our float, toss goodies, and show our community spirit. Whether you are a student, a parent, a donor, a prayer partner, or a local volunteer, we would love to have you march with us to celebrate our program.

When: October 8th | Lineup starts at 4:45PM, Parade begins at 5:00PM
Where to Meet: Matthews Field (Please park in the ULMS parking lot.)
What to Wear: Your LifeWise t-shirt or red, white or yellow to show your LifeWise support!

💡 Lifewise Academy Weekly Recap: Learning Patience!

Our students dove into a big lesson on patience—learning what it means to wait gracefully, keep a positive attitude, and trust God even when things take a long time.

To help them understand, we looked at the incredible patience of Noah. Think about how long it took him to build the ark! He didn't just build it overnight; it took decades of hard work, dedication, and waiting on God's perfect timing. Our students learned that good things take time, and staying patient is a true strength.
🏠 Bringing the Lesson Home
Want to help reinforce patience at home? Here are a few simple ways to practice as a family this week:

Play Turn-Taking Games: Board games or card games are excellent, practical ways to practice waiting nicely for a turn.

Cook or Bake Together: Choose a recipe that requires waiting, like letting dough rise or waiting for a timer to tick down.

👕✨ Another incredible day at LifeWise! ✨👕

We loved seeing the classroom filled with so many kids proudly wearing their LifeWise t-shirts. It's a joy to see them so eager to grow—especially hearing them willingly read the Bible out loud, lead our group in prayer, and openly share their own stories.

This week's lesson focused on a very important character quality: Obedience. We learned that when we listen to and follow God's guidance, as well as the instructions of parents and leaders, we honor God.

💬To reinforce the lesson, ask your child:

- "What did you learn about why obedience is important?"
- "Who created everything in the universe?"
- "Since God created everything, why does He deserve our obedience?"
