Troop 75B went on a backpacking hike this weekend. After a short hike on the Mohawk Trail we intersected the Appalachian Trail and headed south to Stony Brook group sites and Stewart Brook Hollow shelter. The weather Saturday was spectacular, but in true New England fashion changed to rain showers overnight. After breakfast and a short hike Sunday morning scouts headed home to dry off and clean gear. This trip gave scouts a chance to learn more about leave no trace camping. We were even fortunate to run across a thru-hiker ( someone who is hiking the entire trail in one shot), and some section hikers (people who do smaller sections at a time).
