Governor's Hurricane Conference

The GHC Board of Directors is excited to announce the appointment of Lisa Poziomek as our next conference Executive Director. The appointment represents an extensive search, credential review and interviews of Executive Director candidates representing all facets of the emergency management profession. Lisa brings exemplary experience from the non-profit, volunteer, government and private sectors and holds multiple national and Florida-based emergency management certifications and credentials.

This appointment follows completion of the 40th offering of the GHC’s week-long program and related activities, delivered through the leadership of current Executive Director René Daines who is retiring following decades of service to the conference. The GHC Board of Directors proudly recognizes the legacy of the Daines family’s unmatched contributions to the conference and the GHC mission to provide quality, affordable training and workshops focused on innovations, lessons learned and best practices in all phases of hurricane preparedness.

GHC President, Paul Womble notes “On behalf of the GHC Board of Directors, I am excited to welcome Lisa as our next Executive Director. Lisa’s unique combination of skills, experience, leadership and relationship building will allow the GHC to continue its stellar reputation as the nation’s premier hurricane-focused conference. As we move forward, we thank René for her service and dedication to the GHC and for setting an incredibly high standard of excellence”.

In accepting the position, Lisa offered her personal insights: "While the legacy of the Daines family is significant and worthy of celebration, I am eager to embrace this new chapter and help guide the position’s evolution. Honoring the first 40 years while fostering continued development for the next four decades is a goal I am passionate about advancing."

As Executive Director, Lisa will oversee the conference’s operations, programming, and strategic vision as the GHC moves forward to its 41st year and beyond.
