🎶 A World Premiere from BridgeMusik Summer Festival 2026!

We’re delighted to share the world premiere of Thomas Cabaniss’ Dedication to Faust, commissioned by BridgeMusik for our 2026 festival, We the Music — Celebrating 250 Years of American Voices.

Recorded live at the Nyack Center on August 2, the video begins with Tom speaking about the inspiration behind the work, followed by the complete world premiere featuring Mary Neufeld, narrator, and the BridgeMusik Festival Ensemble, conducted by David Rosenmeyer.

Dedication to Faust sets the “Dedication” from Goethe’s Faust, translated by Douglas Langworthy, in whose loving memory the work was created.

Our heartfelt thanks to Tom Cabaniss for creating this beautiful new work for BridgeMusik and for joining us to introduce it, and to Mary, David, and our wonderful Festival Ensemble musicians — Krystof Witek, Marji Danilow, Danny Mui, Kara LaMoure, Tiago Linck, Mark Patterson, and Jeremy Levine — for bringing it to life.

Special thanks to Kasia Witek for video, editing, and sound, and to everyone who joined us at the Nyack Center for this memorable opening weekend of the festival!

🎶 WE THE MUSIC — WHAT A FINALE! 🇺🇸❤️

What an extraordinary conclusion to BridgeMusik Summer Festival 2026!

On Sunday, more than 200 students, faculty, families, friends and audience members filled OLSH for our We the Music — Celebrating 250 Years of American Voices Festival Finale.

Our youngest musicians performed alongside advanced students, college-age musicians and professional artists — sharing the stage and making music together. From The Star-Spangled Banner and Copland’s Appalachian Spring to Ashokan Farewell, We Shall Overcome, audience sing-alongs and The Stars and Stripes Forever, we celebrated American music across generations and traditions.

We also performed Along the Open Road, commissioned by BridgeMusik from The Dolphins Quartet in celebration of America 250.

The Finale brought to a close two unforgettable weeks that began with Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale and the world premiere of Thomas Cabaniss’s Dedication to Faust, and continued with Chamber Hour and community concerts, Student Week, masterclasses, coaching, chamber music, our J.S. Bach Chamber Hour and student recitals.

Most of all, thank you to our amazing students! ❤️ Thank you to our Festival Faculty, fellows and guest artists; our families, volunteers and audiences; and all our venues and community partners. Special thanks to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart for being our Student Week home.

With gratitude to NYSCA, the Arthur F. & Alice E. Adams Charitable Foundation, Curtis W. McGraw Foundation, Froning Family Foundation, Nyack Tourism, our partners and individual donors.

🎶 BridgeMusik Summer Festival Student Week in Full Swing!

A few moments from an incredible week of rehearsals, coaching, chamber music, full ensemble playing — and our J.S. Bach Chamber Hour performances!

Throughout Student Week, our young musicians have been rehearsing side by side with BridgeMusik Festival faculty, preparing solo and chamber works, learning new repertoire, and coming together in our large ensembles. From our youngest students to our college fellows and advanced players, it has been wonderful to see the focus, energy, friendships, and music grow each day.

Our J.S. Bach Chamber Hour brought faculty and students together for two beautiful performances — first at the chapel of the Dominican Convent of Our Lady of the Rosary, and then before a sold-out audience in the OLSH Little Chapel. These intimate settings provided a wonderful backdrop for sharing the music of Johann Sebastian Bach.

A huge thank-you to our entire Festival Faculty for the extraordinary amount of teaching, coaching, rehearsing, accompanying, arranging, conducting, and encouragement that goes into this week — and to all of our students for their hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm! ❤️

🎶 A Special Visit During Student Week!

Day 3 of BridgeMusik Student Week brought a very special guest to OLSH — legendary flutist, Juilliard professor, and BridgeMusik Board Member Carol Wincenc!

Carol spent the afternoon working with our young musicians in masterclasses and coaching sessions, sharing her extraordinary experience, insight, and enthusiasm with the next generation of performers.

Mentorship is at the heart of BridgeMusik, and opportunities like this — bringing accomplished artists and teachers into direct contact with our students — are an important part of what makes Student Week so special.

Thank you, Carol, for sharing your artistry, wisdom, and time with our students! ❤️🎶

🎹 A little ragtime, a little nostalgia — and another wonderful day of music across Rockland County!

Day 3 of our BridgeMusik Chamber Hour Series began with a community performance at the Orangetown Senior Activity Center at Tappan Reformed Church, presented in partnership with Meals On Wheels Rockland, and continued in the afternoon at the Finkelstein Memorial Library in Spring Valley.

Our program, American Voices — From Muczynski to Stravinsky, explored very different paths through 20th-century American music, with works by Robert Muczynski, William Bolcom, and Igor Stravinsky.

Featured in this Reel is William Bolcom’s beautiful Graceful Ghost Rag, performed by:

🎻 Krystof Witek — violin
🎹 Chun-Wei Kang — piano

Written in memory of Bolcom’s father, Graceful Ghost brings together the unmistakable spirit of American ragtime with tenderness, elegance, and nostalgia — a perfect fit for this year’s festival theme, We the Music — Celebrating 250 Years of American Voices.

The complete program also featured Muczynski’s Time Pieces for clarinet and piano and Stravinsky’s Suite from The Soldier’s Tale, expertly performed by the BridgeMusik Festival Trio with Danny Mui, clarinet.

Our heartfelt thanks to Grace Nunes and Meals On Wheels Rockland for their continued partnership in bringing live music to Rockland County seniors, and to Maria Vanessa Cipolla and everyone at the Finkelstein Memorial Library for welcoming BridgeMusik and our audience so warmly.
