On Wednesday, the U.S. Marine Corps McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II, known for its vertical takeoff and landing capabilities, was officially retired during a Sundown Ceremony.

This image is from one of the Rhode Island National Guard airshows years ago—a happy memory and a reminder of the excitement this unique aircraft brought to highlight the day. End of an era.

🇺🇸 WELCOME HOME 🇺🇸 Nearly a year of sacrifice has led to this moment. Military Friends Foundation joined today in Natick, as the 26th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade and 26th Signal Company finally reunited with their families after 11 months deployed to the Horn of Africa. To the soldiers of the Yankee Brigade: you stood the watch, you completed the mission, and you’ve earned every second of this homecoming.

Behind every fallen service member is a family carrying a legacy of unmatched sacrifice. At the Military Friends Foundation, we believe honoring that legacy requires active dedication.

We were proud to partner with the Massachusetts National Guard — The Nation's First in support of today's Memorial Day ceremony, recognizing twelve Massachusetts families with the Medals of Liberty and Fidelity to commemorate loved ones lost in battle and to the invisible scars of military service. Governor Maura Healey, Legislators and military leaders, joined alongside these families and Major Robert Brandt who was honored with the Purple Heart for his courageous actions under enemy fire in Afghanistan.

Our promise to Gold Star families, veterans, and service members remains unchanged: Massachusetts stands with you today, tomorrow, and always.
