Happy Boss's Day to our Executive Director, Theresa!

Leadership is about more than making decisions or keeping things moving. It’s about believing in a mission, investing in people, building relationships, and showing up for your community. Theresa does all of that and so much more.

We are incredibly grateful for the leadership she brings to Sumter Habitat for Humanity and for the heart she has for the families, seniors, volunteers, partners, and neighbors we serve. Her commitment to affordable housing and to building a stronger, more accessible Sumter is reflected in the work happening every day across our organization.

Thank you, Theresa, for leading with purpose, supporting our team, and continually looking for ways Habitat can make an even greater impact in our community.

Today, we celebrate you!

We broke ground!

This is an exciting milestone for Sumter Habitat for Humanity as we officially celebrate the groundbreaking of our Senior Cottages! Safe, affordable homes designed to help our aging neighbors live with greater stability, independence, and peace of mind.

We are especially grateful for our partnership with Gainey Construction, whom we contracted with to help bring these cottages to life effectively and efficiently so our future residents can begin moving in as soon as possible. Their expertise and commitment are helping us turn plans on paper into homes that will make a lasting difference.

And we’re already looking ahead! Planning for 2027 is underway, including expanded floor plans designed to better meet the needs of the seniors we serve.

This is about more than building cottages. It’s about making sure our aging neighbors have a SAFE, affordable place to call home right here in Sumter.

Thinking about a Senior Cottage or know someone who is? Applications for this program are open until the end of October. Call us at 803.775.5767 ext 106.

Want to help us build the next one? Your gift stays 100% local and helps create more affordable housing opportunities for our neighbors.

What a JOY it was to have the Eaton team out on our build site today! 🏠💪

From jumping in and getting their hands dirty to learning new skills and tackling every task with enthusiasm, this crew brought an incredible work ethic and an even bigger heart for giving back.

Eaton is truly a partner in our mission. Their support goes far beyond funding. They show up, roll up their sleeves, and work alongside us to help build affordable homes, stronger families, and a stronger Sumter.

There’s something pretty special about seeing a community partner invest not only their resources, but also their time, talent, and people into making a difference right here at home.

Thank you, Eaton, for continuing to believe in the work of Habitat and for being such an incredible partner. We are so grateful for you!

Quinetta Buterbaugh!

Quinetta serves as District Manager for Government and Community Relations in South Carolina for Duke Energy and has built an incredible reputation for leadership, service, and making a difference throughout our region.

Join The Home Team

A home is more than walls and a roof. It’s where families feel safe, where children grow, and where neighbors begin to build a more stable future.

When you join The Home Team, your monthly gift becomes part of that story.

The Home Team is Sumter Habitat for Humanity’s community of monthly donors committed to helping our neighbors build strength, stability, and hope. Your recurring support gives us something incredibly valuable: the ability to keep building, planning, and saying yes when a neighbor needs a hand up.

You can make a lasting difference with $10, $25, $50, or whatever amount is meaningful to you each month.

Your gift joins with the generosity of others to help build homes, increase accessibility, and create opportunities for families right here in Sumter.

Our goal is to welcome 100 neighbors to The Home Team by the end of the year and we’re already celebrating our first 6 neighbors who have stepped up to help us get started!

Now we need 94 more.

Imagine what can happen when 100 neighbors decide, together, that stronger families and stronger communities are worth investing in every single month.

Will you be one of them?

Help us grow from 6 to 100 and finish the year with a Home Team ready to build even more hope in the year ahead.

100 neighbors. One mission. A stronger Sumter.

Join The Home Team today and help build hope, home, and a stronger Sumter. Month after month.

You don’t have to build the whole house. You just have to be part of the team.

Our goal is to welcome 100 neighbors as Founding Members to The Home Team by December 31, 2026. With monthly gifts starting at just $10, every member helps provide
