Fighting wildfires takes dedication around the clock; day and night, 24/7. 🔥

This stunning (and a little eerie, just in time for October!) nighttime photo captures a dozer working along the fireline during the Area 13 Wildfire on September 29th. Area Forester Drew Fletcher captured this photo while he and fellow wildland firefighters kept watch and protected our woods that night, battling not just this 2 acres in NW Tishomingo County, but two other fires that same night!

While images like this show the dramatic reality of what our crews face, we need your help to prevent these fires before they start. As conditions stay dry, please remember: Always check local burn restrictions, never leave a fire unattended, and do your part to keep Mississippi's forests safe. 🌲💚

When the job calls for a little “off-roading,” you kick in the 4-wheel drive and go where you have to go. You carry the medics to the patient when the ambulance can’t get them there; through the water, mud and miles of woods. We were happy to be a help! Thank you Central Lamar VFD for going the extra mile!!

GOOD NEWS! The Jefferson Davis County football player who had to be helicoptered off last night is doing a lot better!

From what I have been told, he has feeling and is improving!

Keep him in your thoughts!
