Two dogs.

That’s all it took.

A few weeks ago, 14 puppies came into the shelter. They were born to two mama dogs who had spent years having litter after litter.

One of those dogs had at least 8 litters in 5 years. The other had at least 3 litters in 3 years. Even assuming only 8 puppies per litter, that’s a minimum of 88 puppies brought into the world—and the actual number is believed to be well over 100 puppies.

Think about that for a moment.

Over 100 puppies needing food, shelter, veterinary care, and homes. Over 100 puppies contributing to the overcrowding crisis shelters and rescues face every day.

The good news? Those 14 puppies were transferred to a rescue partner and made their way to Delaware, where every single one was adopted this past weekend.

A huge thank you to Jess with Best Friends for helping make that happen.

And an even bigger thank you to an anonymous local sponsor who stepped up and paid to have both mama dogs spayed. Because of that generosity, the cycle ends here. No more pregnancies. No more litters. No more repeated physical strain on these mothers.

We’d also like to thank Lori Yonts with Sun Kissed Acres for transporting the mamas and Luci Jennings for bringing them home and helping make their journey to a better life possible.

This is why we talk about spaying and neutering.

It’s not about judgment. It’s about preventing suffering before it starts.

Please spay and neuter your pets. One surgery can prevent hundreds of animals from entering an already overwhelmed system.

The cycle ends here.

These sweet sisters have spent much of their young lives growing up in a shelter.

🐾 Meet Lucky & Lucy 🐾

While other puppies were learning what it feels like to curl up on a couch, nap in a soft bed, and be loved by a family, Lucky and Lucy were growing up surrounded by kennel walls, barking dogs, and the daily noise of shelter life.

Despite that, they remain incredibly sweet girls.

They can be a little shy at first, but once they realize you’re kind, their loving personalities begin to shine through. They enjoy attention from volunteers and are learning that people can be trusted and life can be good.

What breaks our hearts is that they still haven’t experienced what so many dogs take for granted—a family of their own.

💕 Sweet sisters
💕 Shy but loving
💕 Growing up in the shelter
💕 Deserve to know what a real home feels like

Imagine being a puppy and never knowing a soft bed. Never having your own toys. Never having a person who is yours.

Lucky and Lucy deserve more than a kennel. They deserve a chance.

Please share their story and help us find these girls the loving homes they’ve been waiting for. 🐾💕

🚨 URGENT: DOC NEEDS A HOME 🚨

Doc is quickly approaching his 90-day mark, and we need your help to make sure he doesn’t spend another day in a shelter kennel.

If you’ve ever met a dog who seems genuinely excited just to be alive, that’s Doc.

He’s full of energy, happiness, and enthusiasm. Whether he’s running around the yard, going for a walk, or soaking up attention from volunteers, Doc approaches every day with a wagging tail and a smile. He has a zest for life that’s impossible not to love.

Doc has been waiting far longer than he should have. While other dogs have come and gone, he’s still hoping someone will choose him.

💙 Neutered male
💙 Listed as URGENT
💙 Friendly, playful, and full of personality
💙 Loves being active and spending time with people
💙 Ready for a family who will embrace his joyful spirit

Doc doesn’t know he’s nearing a deadline. He just knows that every time someone walks by his kennel, he hopes they might be his person.

Let’s make sure Doc gets the chance he deserves.

Please share, foster, rescue, or adopt. His life may depend on it. 🐾💙
