AAUW is committed to achieving equity, paycheck fairness and economic security of all women.

Le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, and q***r (LGBTQ+) workers continue to face significant pay inequities driven by discrimination. Pay equity is a right, not a privilege.

The lack of pay data on sexual orientation and gender identity makes it harder to identify and address pay gaps. Now, a federal agency wants to stop collecting basic data. We can’t fix what we can’t see.

On this LGBTQIA+ Equal Pay Awareness Day, we urge you to stand up for workplace equity. Take action: aauw.org/act/two-minute-activist

AAUW supports access to higher education for all women.

At AAUW, we are proud to support all women in higher education.

Every woman deserves the opportunity to learn, lead, and thrive in academic spaces. Through our fellowships, research, advocacy, and community programs, we work to advance equity and create pathways for success at every stage of the educational journey.

By investing in women’s potential, we help build a stronger, more inclusive future for higher education and beyond.

This excellent book for Memorial Day, "Heroism Begins With Her", tells the true stories of bold, brave, and gutsy women who proudly served in the U.S. military from the Revolutionary War to today! Herstory tells the stories of women's contributions that are missing from traditional history books.

A Mighty Girl's Pick of the Day is in honor of Memorial Day: "Heroism Begins With Her." This inspiring illustrated biography tells the true stories of bold, brave, and gutsy women who proudly served in the U.S. military from the Revolutionary War to today! In fascinating capsule biographies, author Winifred Conkling shares the incredible stories of 80 diverse women who served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard. In it, she introduces both well-known women such as computer pioneer Rear Admiral Grace Hopper and former Army helicopter pilot and current U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth and unsung heroes like Cathay Williams, the former slave who enlisted in the Union Army during the Civil War. While many of these heroic women faced significant prejudice -- and in the early days, even had to disguise themselves as men to serve -- they persisted, and through their achievements and courageous acts, they paved the way for future generations of women! Highly recommended for ages 9 to 14.
