Monday 8/24 Straughn was toned out to I-70 mile marker 132 New Lisbon exit east bound for report of a wreck involving 2 semis and 2 school busses with NO children onboard, thankfully. Upon arrival entrapment was found, Straughn requested mutual aid from Lewisville. A IU health helicopter was called in due to extensive injuries and landed directly on I-70. If this wasn't bad enough 30 minutes later a second wreck happened at the 129 mile marker east bound between 2 vehicles, which Straughn, Spiceland, and Lewisville all responded to. To add to the now 2 wrecks a third one happened 30 minutes after the second making it the third wreck within an hour, it happened at the 127 mile marker eastbound between 2 semis, response came from Straughn, Spiceland, and Lewisville. Thankyou to the good Samaritans that stopped and gave help to those in need. Also a big thankyou to New Castle-Henry County Emergency Medical Services for being the great ALS service that they are, Henry County Indiana Emergency Services 911 Dispatch for being informative, calm, and collected as usual, Davis Towing & Recovery, Inc. for being the best there is in the business, and our mutual aid partner Lewisville/Franklin Township Fire Dept. for being there when it counts. If you find yourself in a traffic jam give yourself some space and always watch your rear view mirror and have an escape plan. We are blessed to serve Dudley township and all who call upon us in their time of need.

Earlier today Straughn and Lewisville/Franklin Township Fire Dept. turned the heat up abit. Members from both departments partook in a great training, the training began by learning how to advance the nozzle while flowing water and to use the hose properly instead of using the pistol grip. Along with this the skill of being the "backup" man was also trained to not be right on each other but, allow several feet so the nozzle man isn't fighting you along with the nozzle. Once these skills were practiced several live fires were had and extinguished. All members partook in nozzle advancement, backup man, or observing the fire to watch the separate stages actually happen in live time. We are always willing to train with other departments, just reach out to us, it only will make us all better. We are blessed to serve Dudley township and all who call upon us in their time of need.

Yesterday, August 12, 2026, our community experienced devastating flooding. Many families have been displaced with several still unable to access their homes. More rain is on the way which is a major concern for those already affected and in the surrounding areas.

AHG 4113 has partnered with the Lewisville Fire Department to collect donations for the families in Henry and Wayne counties. Please reach out to your local AHG troop member or an administrator on this page if you would like to contribute.

Please keep our local families and businesses in prayer as we work together to rebuild our beloved Cambridge City!

Wednesday Central and South eastern Indiana was devastated, our community and many others are facing immeasurable loss and grief right now. Our firefighters did the best they could like many other departments, we are very proud of their efforts to save life. Straughn fire department along with our very close friends Lewisville/Franklin Township Fire Dept. made 19 runs Wednesday all starting with a mutual aid call east of Pershing for a trailer fire at 330 in the morning and continuing into the rest of the day with rescuing trapped people in water, moving horses out of harms way, and assisting in other various water rescues. Our hearts go out to those that have been affected by this flooding. As always we are proud to serve all of Dudley township and those that call upon us in their time of need.

Earlier today Straughn was toned out to New Lisbon Mile marker 129 Westbound on I-70 for a semi that had flipped over on its side, once Straughn Engine 91 and Straughn Rescue 95 arrived they found the semi on its passenger side with the victim self rescued. Firefighters from Straughn gained entry into the semi via the drivers door and front windshield to attain the bill of lading and to get other documents for ISP. While helping Davis Towing & Recovery, Inc. clean up the mess another wreck came out just east of the New Lisbon exit MM 132 WB. Straughn cleared from the first scene and quickly went to the next incident. Upon Engine 91 and Rescue 95's arrival it was found that 2 semis and 2 passenger vehicles were involved in a wreck, there was 6 patients involved. Straughn quickly ensured there was no danger to life due to entrapment or any risk to the environment from leaking fluids. Straughn assisted New Castle-Henry County Emergency Medical Services with the patients. We as Henry county are so fortunate to have professionals like Davis Towing & Recovery, Inc. and New Castle-Henry County Emergency Medical Services, there is none better than them. We are proud and blessed to serve all of Dudley township and anyone that calls upon us in their time of need.
