Sunday at 7:46 in the morning Straughn was dispatched to a vehicle in a home. Upon arrival it was noted there was 2 trucks involved in the incident. Upon further investigation it was determined a truck headed east bound hit another truck that was parked and unoccupied and ran it into a tree and continued into a residence. Members ensured there was still structural integrity of the building before the vehicle was removed. Luckily no one was hurt during this incident. The driver was checked out by New Castle-Henry County Emergency Medical Services and was cleared and healthy. Also thankyou to Lewisville/Franklin Township Fire Dept. We are blessed to serve Dudley township and all who call upon us for help.

FUN! That's exactly what today was for Straughn Fire and Lewisville/Franklin Township Fire Dept. Not only that but it was really vital training today, together the two departments traveled to the New castle/Henry County Training facility to train on hose advancement with, search, and radio comms all with ZERO VISIBILITY preparing for the real deal. These are some of the most important aspects of true interior fire fighting. Through trial and error members decided that preloading a hose advancement is by far the best and searching with a purpose and intensity saves lives. Between Straughn Fire and Lewisville/Franklin Township Fire Dept. members there is a burning passion and desire to be the best we can be for all who call upon us, training is what decides the general publics outcomes in an emergency. We are fortunate and blessed to serve Dudley township and all who call upon us in their time of need.

The past 24 hours has been fairly busy for our little fire department, in the past 19 hours we have been on I-70 three times for wrecks with one of them requiring extrication. Whether it be in the middle of the day or 2 in the morning we will be there to serve and be the best we can for absolute strangers. We are very fortunate to have the members we have that are dedicated to the service of others and to continuing to train and learn have the tools we have all coming out of such a small community such as ours. Thankyou New Castle-Henry County Emergency Medical Services., Davis Towing & Recovery, Inc., and Henry County Indiana Emergency Services 911 Dispatch We are blessed to serve Straughn, Dudley township, and all who call upon us to come to their aid.

Today 3/8 Straughn members along with members of Lewisville/Franklin Township Fire Dept. and new New Lisbon Community Volunteer Fire Department partook in very important CPR training to be able to perform high quality CPR and give a greater chance of survival to all patients, all members passed and received accreditation. Thank you to Mrs. Aly Burns for taking the time out of your day and training us. After the CPR training members participated in a mock drill of doffing the gear of a downed firefighter quickly to be able to do CPR on them in case of a cardiac emergency with another fire fighter. We are blessed to be able to serve Straughn, Dudley township and all who call upon us for help.

February 24, Tuesday a member of Straughn Fire attended Tri High Career Discovery Interview days. The member explained the benefits, opportunities, responsiblities, and joy of the volunteer and professional side of being a fire fighter. We are thankful that we were invited to such an important event for our youth. We hope to continue to attend these types of events to be a positive influence within the community that we serve.

Today 2/26 at 1700 (5 P.M.)Straughn units were dispatched to the MM 131 west bound New Lisbon/Wilbur Wright exit area of I-70 for a field fire. Upon arrival it was noted that the grass fire was growing, Engine 91 marked on scene and got to work quickly, due to being at the bottom of the hill in a dangerous situation and being a single engine, Rescue 95 staged at the top of the hill to warn oncoming traffic upon its arrival. Lewisville/Franklin Township Fire Dept. units were requested for mutual aid to I-70. While this was going on we were dispatched to another grass fire in the 3600 block of US 40. Other apparatus that were enroute to I-70 discontinued and marked enroute to the US 40 incident. Thankfully our neighbors from the west arrived on scene quickly due to already being in the area whilst enroute to our aid on I-70 and began the attack on the fire, shortly thereafter Straughn units arrived and the 2 departments worked hand in hand at extinguishing the fire. Once Engine 91 was done on I-70 it also went to the fire on US 40. Thankyou again to our friends at Lewisville Fire, Henry County Indiana Emergency Services 911 Dispatch, We are blessed to serve Straughn, Dudley township, and all of those that pass through the area and are in need.

Over the weekend Straughn held training for its members and New Lisbon Community Volunteer Fire Department, Lewisville/Franklin Township Fire Dept. This training consisted of members donning their gear and again going over what the pieces of the gear are called and how they function. Once gear was donned members of departments partook in an obstacle course while they were on air and completely blinded by a Nomex over top of their mask. This training imitates what the inside of a structure fire that is filled with smoke can be like. members had to feel their way along 200 foot of hose and go through several obstacles. Although this training may look simple it can be and is mentally and physically demanding. You will notice as time goes on, our trainings will always be held in gear and on air to build muscle memory and get everyone used to the systems. You perform how you train. We are blessed to serve all of those in Straughn, Dudley township and all who call upon us when they are in need of help.
