Georgia has been feeling better, so her foster mom decided it was time to work on “sit.” Georgia decided that didn’t fit into her plans for the day. 😂🐾

Atlanta Boxer Rescue is celebrating 18 years of rescue

What began as a simple idea, helping Boxers who needed somewhere to go and someone to care, has grown into 18 years of rescue.

As of June 14, 2026, ABR has rescued 2,172 Boxers.

And fittingly, Boxer 2,172 came into rescue today.

That number is big, but rescue has never really been about numbers. It is about the senior who needed a soft place to land. The heartworm-positive dog who needed treatment. The injured dog who needed surgery. The scared dog who needed time. The overlooked dog who needed somebody to see their worth.

For 18 years, ABR has been built one Boxer at a time.

One foster home.
One adopter.
One transport.
One vet visit.
One donation.
One volunteer who stepped up when a dog needed help.

Every dog we have saved has been part of this story, and so has every person who helped make it possible.

💕 SWEET GEORGIA NEEDS A LITTLE HELP 💕

Just a few days ago, Georgia walked out of the shelter and into a foster home. Yesterday, she found herself at the vet.

Like many dogs coming from the shelter environments, Georgia hasn't been feeling her best. She's currently battling an upper respiratory infection and is also in heat, making for a rough first week of freedom.

Despite the shelter, the vet visits, the poking and prodding, and not feeling well, Georgia has remained incredibly sweet and trusting. So far, she's been the perfect houseguest. 🥰

The next step is helping her get healthy. The veterinary team is running tests and monitoring her progress. Once she's feeling better and her heat cycle is behind her, she'll be able to move forward with her spay and continue her journey toward finding a forever home.

Rescue doesn’t stop when a dog leaves the shelter. For many, it’s just the beginning of their journey.

Happy Tails for Watson—yep, that’s me! 🐾

Mission accomplished: I’m staying forever! My humans thought they were just fostering me, but I knew the truth all along, I was already home. 😎

I officially hit the jackpot! I fit right into the pack from day one. My days are now fully booked with playing non-stop with my two doggie fur siblings (I adore them!) and scoring endless snuggles from my humans.

They might call it a "foster fail," but I call it the ultimate win. Thanks for making it official, fam! 🐶❤️

Bo had a special morning on Fox News yesterday! 🐾📺

We’re so proud of our sweet boy for representing rescue dogs and helping spread awareness about pet adoption. We hope his appearance helps him get one step closer to finding the loving forever home he deserves. 💙🏡

🐾 Freedom Ride for Georgia 🐾

This sweet girl just made her way into the rescue and officially started her next chapter 💙

From shelter life ➝ freedom ride ➝ first yard zooms ➝ finally curling up safe in a crate… Georgia is already showing us that a soft landing makes all the difference.

She is not yet available for adoption as she still has her intake exam and upcoming spay, but her journey is officially underway.

✨ Stay tuned as Georgia settles in and we learn more about this sweet girl.

Sweet Jolene is staying overnight at the vet after experiencing significant digestive upset. Bloodwork revealed pancreatitis along with dehydration, so she has been started on IV fluids and medications to help keep her comfortable and support her recovery.

Please keep this sweet girl in your thoughts as she rests and heals. 💙🐾

FREEDOM RIDE!

Everyone welcome Hank to the rescue. This sweet senior boy arrived at his ABR foster home earlier this week and is settling in great. He loves kids, enjoys attention from everyone, and is fully embracing the couch life. 🛋️❤️

Hank came to us a little underweight, so he’s working on gaining some healthy weight before he’s ready for neuter surgery and his forever home.
